Collins Aerospace Power & Controls business is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the Integrated Product Development (IPD) Team for the JSF Actuation components for the Pratt & Whitney East Hartford (PWEH) Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) F-135 engine. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead a cross-functional team and oversee the design, fabrication, procurement, assembly, and testing of engine control system actuation components. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing competing priorities, maintaining high levels of engagement, and achieving successful outcomes in critical situations. Your leadership will be crucial in driving project success and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.

What You will do

  • Direct all phases of programs from inception through completion, ensuring the successful execution of technical requirements within budget and schedule by implementing Collins Management Systems (CMS) and the Integrated Product Development (IPD) Team process.
  • Coordinate all necessary activities related to requirement flow down, design definition, design reviews, hardware fabrication, and validation for developing actuators for various advanced engine programs.
  • Prepare and maintain project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements to ensure all project objectives are met without compromising project quality.
  • Oversee the preparation of FAR 15 compliant proposals.
  • Coordinate all Collins Engineering Change (EC) activities for drawings and solid models associated with actuation hardware, including components designed by Collins Windsor Locks.
  • Manage and resolve all supplier interfacing activities, including fabrication processing issues, Flight Safety Frozen Process Review Board deliverables, dispositions to supplier Quality Notices (QNs), and responses to supplier requests for information (SRIs).
  • Drive and implement Relentless Root Cause & Corrective Action (RRCA) processes using applicable CORE tools to enhance design integrity, reliability, and Engineering Standard Work (ESW) practices.
  • Monitor and assess project risks and opportunities, developing mitigating options to achieve productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience leading product development teams, creating project plans, performing risk assessments, and developing resource plans for successful program execution.
  • Experience managing programs using an Earned Value Management System.
  • Familiarity with valves, actuators, and mechanical components, as well as basic working knowledge of control systems.
  • Ability to apply mechanical/hydro-mechanical principles to analyze hardware, recommend corrective actions, conduct engineering investigations, and develop/conduct tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute technical and business proposals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and MS Project tools.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
