What You Will Do:

The SMC Regional Manager (M5) will lead a team of SMC Specialists covering suppliers in the New England area. The person in this role will provide technical mentorship and guidance within the team, specifically related to quality control of metallurgical and chemical special processes. You will also be responsible for the administration and results of team's field activities.

Some travel may be expected to visit troubled suppliers, or during training opportunities with your SMCS team members on a supplier visit. There may be career development opportunities to travel internationally to our partner sites and supplier network partners overseas (Japan, Singapore, Europe region).

This position will be based in CT and presence onsite in East Hartford campus will be expected at times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of Supplier Metallurgical Control Specialists (SMCS).
  • Provide technical and quality process leadership in the areas of chemical/metallurgical quality controls within the P&W MCL supply base.
  • Ensure Supplier Source Qualifications are properly managed to meet customer expectations.
  • Ensure timely supplier visits and report generation by regional team.
  • Review/approve supplier quality surveillance and product reviews.
  • Become an approved member of the Material Review Board (MRB) and actively participate in non-conforming material dispositions.
  • Act as MCL focal point for escape management.
  • Lead the implementation of the chemical/metallurgical controls as specified by purchase orders, blue prints and MCL Manual Sections.
  • This position will be based in East Hartford - Regular presence onsite at East Hartford campus may be required.
  • Travel expected: 10%

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Advanced degree and 7+ years of Quality, Engineering or Material Control Laboratory experience; OR Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Degree in STEM field, ideally in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science.
  • Management and leadership skills with ability to lead project teams.
  • Testing and control of raw materials, finished product, and processing ensuring compliance with company standards and applicable government regulations.
  • Chemical/Metallurgical Processes, i.e., laser machining, electro-discharge machining, electro-chemical grinding, brazing, coatings, welding, heat treatment, etc.
  • Supplier Quality and experience surveilling suppliers' quality system
  • First Article Inspection (FAI), RCCA and PPAP experience.
  • Experience with AS9100 and supplier audit process.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma).
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including suppliers and customers.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
