What You Will Do:
- Work closely with 10-20 other Composite Technicians under the supervision of a Working Lead and Production Supervisor to bring essential naval products to life.
- Receive detailed written instructions from the supervisor, lead technician, or an engineer.
- Judgments and decisions at this level are guided by clearly described procedures and instructions, and the work consists of recurring steps involved in the assembly of parts, subassemblies, and larger components.
- Perform casting of materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications using products and processes which are varied but generally not complex in scope.
- Fabricate polyurethane and like materials into subassemblies for the purpose of pre-fitting in preparation for bonding.
- Load and operate presses, ovens, and autoclaves. Adheres to equipment requirements and the method and sequences of operation to be followed in fabrication of parts using materials such as polyurethane, fiberglass, epoxy resins, and like materials.
- Layout, pre-fits, assembles and casts polyurethane and like material on a variety of molds and surfaces.
- Select tooling and materials compatible with the processing techniques identified in the work instructions.
- Perform complex composite lay-up, vacuum bagging, cutting, repair, autoclave and / or trimming.
- Verify work to ensure a defect free part prior to presenting to quality control (inspection).
- Provide specialized technical assistance and interacts with team members to implement solutions.
- Operate large manual, electric & pneumatic tools in the assembly and disassembly of large heavy steel structures, molds and fixtures.
- Work continuously in prolonged physically demanding postures, safely work in a team environment rigging, lifting and transporting large parts and equipment.
- Read and interpret planning documents.
- Apply your skill in the use of production tools.
- Use computers to record data (Excel), track time (Autotime)
- Be available for limited overtime when required to meet project schedule.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- High School Diploma / GED or equivalent is required, in absence of a diploma 2 years of relevant experience is required.
- Must live in the Jacksonville, FL area.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a manufacturing, industrial environment or assembly labor position.
- Must be willing to obtain certification to operate a powered industrial vehicle.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- 2+ years experience in composite or rubber manufacturing is highly desired.
- Experience in functions related to assembly production environments is highly desirable.
- Prior aerospace / marine industry experience is highly desirable.
- Active US DoD security clearance is highly desirable.
