Test and Validation Engineers within Manufacturing Design provide technical test support to a program from the early development phases through transition to production. They participate in test requirements development, design for manufacturing test activities, manufacturing test process development and factory capabilities analysis to ensure factory readiness and improve product producibility for test. They leverage technical knowledge of manufacturing capabilities, product technologies, factory requirements and business processes to establish and execute the manufacturing test strategy and influence technical program decisions to support new product introduction.

What You Will Do

  • Acting as the manufacturing test authority within the program
  • Applying test engineering skillsets across the extended value stream to optimize and mature the manufacturing test strategy
  • Leveraging knowledge and technical skills to influence business decisions and results from new designs through transition to production
  • Designing, controlling, and improving the testability of products through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team
  • Identifying and resolving constraints across the program
  • Participating in corrective action investigation
  • Providing technical input and peer review to test equipment designs and design changes
  • Develop and maintain changes to the test equipment technical data package which includes drawings, test instructions, test position manuals, and system software
  • Assist in non-routine fault isolation, diagnosis and repair of the product or test equipment
  • Providing technical guidance and problem solving to factory engineers
  • Leading and coordinating projects, efforts and improvements across the extended value streams using CORE principles
  • Leading cross-functional program strategic initiatives
  • Developing influential relationships with internal customers
  • Mentoring, coaching, and training other Manufacturing Design Test Engineers, and/or Production Test Engineers.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Ability to identify, reduce and eliminate cost, quality and schedule constraints through technical engagements
  • Knowledge and ability to apply CORE principles and techniques
  • Demonstrated test systems aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines
  • Experience developing test flows and contributing to test capacity analysis
  • Experience participating in test time reduction efforts and test yield improvements
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Experience with hands-on hardware integration and troubleshooting
  • Experience initiating and driving root cause and corrective action investigations
  • Demonstrated ability to perform risk assessments and support the programs risk register reviews
  • Innovative mindset that drives continuous improvement and keeps pace with advances in technology
  • Experience communicating technical information to different audiences
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Experience leading teams or projects
  • Experience teaching, training and/or mentoring manufacturing test systems and processes to junior engineers
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PPT, Project, Word)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and motivational communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Strong organization skills with fine attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Current DoD security clearance (secret)
  • Experience with processing of Government Furnished Material (GFM) or Equipment (GFE)
  • Understanding of the project management lifecycle
  • Special Access for some positions

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
