We have an immediate need for an "onsite" Principal Program Quality Engineer (Quality Assurance/Compliance) to support the Close In Weapon System program. The successful candidate must reside within 50 miles of Louisville, KY (travel compensation not included).

As a primary quality interface for customers and suppliers, you'll ensure the program meets all Quality & Mission Assurance requirements. This includes coordinating with functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and overseeing contracts through all Integrated Product Development System (IPDS) phases, from design to production and sustainment.
You'll develop and monitor quality metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with integrated teams to enforce process rigor. Driving root cause investigations, you'll lead failure investigations, First Article Inspection, and Quality Control Plan efforts. You'll also play a key role in Material Review Board, Change Control Board, and Risk Review Board.
This is an "Onsite" role based in Louisville, KY.
Key Programs
Close In Weapon System, (CIWS), Phalanx, SeaRAM, Land Based Phalanx System (LPWS)
What You will Do:
- You will closely interface with external and internal customers and key partners to establish effective relationships.
- You will monitor/lead root cause corrective action (RCCA) and FRACAS activities for systemic issues and to ensure extensive RCCA.
- You will interpret command media in compliance to work being performed.
- You will generate new Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) projects to reduce costs on the program.
- You will review and approve technical data package changes through regular attendance at Engineering Change Control Board (CCB).
- You will be responsible for quality of delivered products and services to our customers, stakeholders of quality risks, uncertainties and opportunities, key team members in resolution of customer expectations and relationships related to Mission Assurance and Quality.
Qualifications You Must Have :
- Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and eight (8) years of relevant experience in the areas below;
- Working experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
- Working experience translating external and internal requirements and command media.
- Working experience in providing technical program expertise for manufacturing and/or design processes.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer :
- Six Sigma, Lean, and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications.
- Experience in other functional areas such as engineering, supplier engineering, or operations.
- Experience using people skills and working with customers, suppliers, and in a team environment.
- Experience using PFMEA, SPC, Control Plans, and Process Capability Assessments.
- Experience in hardware inspections and inspection standards.
- Demonstrated performance being a passionate, high-energy, self-starting team player who achieves goals and strives for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Process Re-invention Integrating Systems for Manufacturing (PRISM) or SAP.
- Experience facilitating cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities.
- Experience working with and technically interfacing with various engineering disciplines.
- Demonstrated use of sound judgement and applying resolution-making skills with appropriate supervisory intervention.
- Experience communicating verbally and in written communications and networking with other stakeholders.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
