Pratt & Whitney, a worldwide leader in jet engines, is looking for a dedicated individual for Digital Tools Roadmap development and progression as we transform into a Model Based Enterprise industry leader. This role reports to the Capability Manager, Model Based Manufacturing and Inspection and is a part of the Manufacturing Engineering function within Pratt & Whitney's Operational Excellence organization. Model Based - Definition, Manufacturing, and Inspection (MD-DMI) is one Pratt & Whitney's Model Based Enterprise (MBE) pillar projects focused on the advancement of digital tools to create a collaborative model-based process design ecosystem to enable improvements in process development speed and effectiveness.

What You Will Do:

In this role, you will have responsibility to drive development of Model Based Manufacturing capabilities across Pratt & Whitney's internal and external operations. MB-DMI is a company-wide initiative to augment 3D models with formats that enable automated consumption in manufacturing business processes.

  • Support definition and implement of Model Based - Design, Manufacturing & Inspection (MB-DMI) transformational project as it relates to interoperability, assess impact of digital thread into manufacturing, drive identification and closure of risk mitigation steps where maturity gaps are identified.
  • Generate and execute short to medium range MB-DMI plans providing significant impact to the organizations
  • Develop metrics to monitor and report on health of transformation progress at all levels of the process
  • Technical Leadership: Drive the development of model-based solutions across the organization, from component design to final production. Provide technical direction for the development and integration of digital manufacturing technologies, including 3D modeling, process simulation, variation analysis, process planning, and advanced CNC systems. Serve as a senior principal lead and SME in architecting and developing comprehensive model-based solutions. Author functional requirements for development by Digital Technology.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing processes through data-driven analysis and simulation. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity by leveraging model-based techniques and digital twin technologies.
  • Technology Road mapping & Architecture: Stay at the forefront of industry trends by conducting thorough technology assessments. Develop and maintain technology roadmaps and architectures to guide the organization's digital transformation initiatives. Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies to drive competitive advantage.
  • Talent Development: Foster a culture of technical excellence by mentoring and coaching team members. Identify skill gaps and develop training programs to enhance the organization's capabilities in model-based engineering and digital manufacturing.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, supply chain, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of model-based solutions. Provide technical consultation and support for new product introductions and change management initiatives.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years experience (Manufacturing Engineering, Ops, Engineering Design, Supply Chain, Project Mgmt, Quality or equivalent), or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Hold a current U.S government issued Secret Clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret Clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • 10+ years of experience (Manufacturing Engineering, Ops, Project Mgmt., Quality).
  • 5+ years of experience implementing manufacturing and/or inspection methods processes.
  • 2+ years experience with implementation of Production Part Approval Process and DoD Manufacturing Readiness Level in manufacturing processes.
  • 5+ years in CAD and/or Production Lifecycle Management (PLM) software packages.
  • Technical proficiency in Complex Manufacturing activities.
  • Proven track record in leading complex technical projects and driving digital transformation initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in model-based engineering, digital manufacturing, and manufacturing process control, process simulation.
  • A working knowledge of modeling technologies (e.g. SysML) and standards (e.g. TOGAF, DODAF).
  • Strong understanding of CAD geometry, PMI, and characteristic modeling as well as re-use.
  • Technical background or experience in Model Based Engineering, Model Based Enterprise, Product Lifecycle, Digital Twin, and Digital Twin concepts.
  • Prior experience with engineering tools such as Siemens Teamcenter, Siemens NX CAD, Siemens Process Sim, Dassault Catia, 3DCS Variation Analyst.
  • Prior experience with manufacturing execution tools such as Siemens OpCenter or iBaset Solumina.
  • Knowledge of specific industry domains (e.g., aerospace, automotive, defense) and their associated modeling challenges.
  • Experience with model-based verification and validation (MBVV).
  • Knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, C++).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Programming and operating CNC machines or CMM equipment and standards such as MTConnect, QIF, and OPC/UA.
  • Understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis as well as applicable industry standards.
  • CAI/CAD programming experience, PLM, NX, Team Center, and related systems.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
