This is a 2nd shift role.
What You Will Do:
- Plan and perform metallurgical inspection on a wide variety of development, OEM and O & R parts, utilizing methods such as eddy current, ultrasonic, thermal imaging, radiographic and weld test. Interpret and evaluate irregularities and report results. Accept or reject material and provide information for repair. Maintain Level II NDT certifications and proficiencies to support business needs.
- Work from verbal and written instructions, such as procedures, repair work orders, technique sheets, blueprints and engineering memo items, to plan and perform the sequence of operations required to inspect parts for non-conformance.
- Set up and operate tooling and equipment and when necessary make offsets and adjustments to ensure valid test results. Perform checks and calibrations of test process media to maintain test integrity.
- Work with technical support groups and provide technical leadership to develop and try out new techniques for inspecting new, changed or unique parts or inspection equipment. Generate and develop procedures and technique sheets for approval by cognizant Level III.
- Inspect parts for material defects and irregularities. Interpret test results and accept parts that meet applicable standards. Identify nonconformance based on location size, orientation and pattern in accordance with generally defined criteria.
- Check recurring inspection problems and recommend changes in methods or equipment to eliminate or minimize them.
- Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instruction, such as inspector's checklist for upkeep, and assure equipment operates properly. Refer problems to leader/supervisor as appropriate to resolve difficulties.
- May be assigned to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual's skills.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Metallurgical inspection experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
