This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
What YOU will do:
- Provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced mechanical drafters to help them diagnose and solve problems and to build capabilities.
- Support and evaluate employees on the development of design drawings according to engineering sketches and proposal specifications.
- Lead the way on skills development for Model Based Definition (MDB) and GD&T for the drafting team.
- Ensure efficiency of drafting team on the usage of methods and tools (NX, CATIA, PTC Creo, Teamcenter)
- Lead the discipline strategy for skills development providing results on team capability growth.
- Work with engineering and drafting managers to ensure product quality, process alignment and implementation of streamlined processes.
- Use highly developed technical knowledge and project management skills for project planning budget management, and methodology development to ensure that projects are completed on-time, within budget and according to defined goals.
- Coordinate the preparation of business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and the financial terms and conditions of contracts to ensure that progress and performance can be tracked.
- Direct recruitment, placement, and evaluation of drafter's staff and their work products to ensure the effective deployment of talent.
- Oversee the functional management of direct reports including but not limited to career development and succession planning to meet the organization's needs
- Work with various business units on staff and project allocation dynamically.

Qualifications you must have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Experience in managing programs/projects within a highly matrixed organization including successfully managing a group of engineers/drafters under technical guidance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- BS and/or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Degree on Technical Drafting with experience in the Aerospace Industry
- Experience in creating career development programs to ensure skills and performance of employees meet the organization's current and future needs.
- Previous experience working in the aerospace industry with working knowledge of industry standards.
- 5+ years of design experience in the engineering field, in a product definition group.
- Experience with GD&T and working knowledge of industry standards including ASME/ANSI Y14.
- 5+ years of experience in 3D modeling with CAD tools including NX (formally Unigraphics) and PLM Teamcenter.
