Pratt & Whitney, Middletown, CT has an opening for a Maintenance Mechanic second shift.

What you will do:

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks for facility equipment related to the plumbing trade.
  • Install, trouble shoot, rebuild, and repair various pump systems. Must have experience with centrifugal and air diaphragm pumps. Plan/execute facility renovation projects related to the plumbing trade.
  • Assist other trades with complex facility repair, including material rigging and some sheet metal fabrication.
  • Working in an industrial facility setting, have the ability to prioritize work and respond to facility and customer needs in a professional manner
  • Under direction of Leader/Supervisor follow specific instructions and standard trade practices to obtain tools, material and equipment for carrying out work assignments on piping systems, control devices and related equipment.
  • Refer difficulties to leader/supervisor.
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals' skills. May be required to train and obtain and certification for hoist maintenance within assigned trade specialization. Support Mill Wright and chip processing.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • High School or GED.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses for hoist maintenance and certifications within assigned trade specialization. Applicant shall have a State of Connecticut (R-9) or (R-10) license or other related hoist maintenance experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Successful completion from accredited higher education program.
  • 5+ years' experience Plumbing within Industrial/ Commercial/ Manufacturing.
  • CT State Backflow Prevention Device Testing Certification.
  • 2+ year experience Plumbing within Industrial/Commercial/Manufacturing.
  • P-2 or P-1 CT State Plumbing License.
  • Experience with boom and scissor lifts, and forklifts.
