This role is key to developing the architecture for a future shipboard effector system, continuing Raytheon's 70-plus year key role in the Navy's fleet defense. This role will chart the path for systems which if competitively awarded may result in billions of production sales.
The Shipboard Effector Capture Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) will be a key member of the Technology Director's team and Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE). The LSE is accountable for key decisions directing program capture which directly affects our competitive strategy. The LSE works closely with the capture team to advance technology and integrate it into weapon systems that answer the customer's future needs. The LSE operates through influence across Raytheon and customer technical leadership. The LSE must develop a holistic architecture of the system of systems for Raytheon to scope the work for technology development, which will answer the needs of the customer. Model Based Systems Engineering is a key enabler for future Shipboard Effector programs, so the LSE must have demonstrated experience in this engineering method. The capture LSE drives a common vision to the teams to allow coordinated execution of the concept during pursuit and transition to development phases. This will require that the LSE work across the RTX business to leverage company technology and resources needed by the program. The LSE supports program knowledge point planning through the development process, while also expanding the approaches to problem solving and designing optimal solutions. In addition, the LSE brings Systems thinking to the program capture team, promoting efficient execution of early programs and solid footing to win new business. As a member of the OCE, the LSE is responsible for the technical leadership of a multi-disciplined engineering team that will start out small, but grow as multi-disciplined engineers and staff are added to aid the development, integration, verification, and fielding of future Shipboard Effector programs. The LSE is also one of the senior technical interfaces with the US Navy Government Program Office, JHU/APL (Technical Design Agent for the US Navy), and a multitude of external government offices, industry partners, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
The LSE is expected to mentor lead engineers both technically and with their career. In this role, certification as a Level 4 LSE (within Raytheon) or equivalent is anticipated to ensure that Raytheon LSE values and behaviors can be applied daily to this complex program.
