What You Will Do

We are looking for talented and passionate engineers to join our Compression Systems Engineering team. We're seeking a structural engineer intern to provide technical & analytical support for structures on commercial fan modules, with responsibility for the durability and structural integrity of engine components. Specific structural engineering specialties may include static and dynamic stress analysis of airfoils including fatigue analysis and fracture mechanics assessments. Analyses may include both classical methods and detailed FEA.

• Our intern program seeks to help you develop an understanding of the aerospace industry and learn about our company and its operations.
• Multi-disciplinary production support to engine deliveries, with an emphasis in Structural Analysis.
• Structural analysis of fan module airfoils via hand calculations, 2D and 3D finite element modeling, using the latest P&W Engineering Standard Work, and analytical tools.
• Support proactive activities to improve the producibility and life of parts.
• Challenge our processes to become more efficient and more effective.
• Document analyses and present results and associated recommendations to integrated part teams, management, and customers.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Enrolled in a degree program in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Civil Engineering.
• Experience proposing innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Experience collaborating with a team to develop innovative ideas
• Experience communicating clear and effective messages to a broad audience

• Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products.
• Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition.
• Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering executes both military and commercial repair design and repairs substantiations for engines. We create and improve ASE business and repair development tools. We design, develop, and qualify military repair tooling.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
