This position is for an Industrial Engineering COOP on the High-Frequency and tactical Communication team who will apply Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis, and decision tools to promote and implement changes in manufacturing operations to achieve site goals. This roles overarching responsibilities are improving quality, reducing costs, and improving the flow of products through automation and process improvements.

This role will provide the opportunity for independent action AND working in a team environment of manufacturing engineers, production personnel, management, and other support organizations. You will be assigned to projects with high priority and visibility to improve this facility's capability to be the best manufacturing facility in the world.

What YOU Will Do:

  • Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May - December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
  • Support manufacturing processes including: equipment, floor layouts, work sequence, work instructions, procedures, and work flow.
  • Conduct studies on cost control, productivity, cost reduction, inventory, and production record systems
  • Review products/processes for quality, safety, and producibility risks and work with design to incorporate changes to eliminate the risks
  • Manage moderately sized projects or processes
  • Independently resolve problems that are difficult and often complex
  • Develop tactical plans to manage day-to-day challenges
  • Some travel to local Iowa reginal sites

What YOU Will Learn:

  • You will learn how to be an industrial engineer supporting various high-frequency communication radios & circuit board manufacturing processes. Engineering tools used in the build & test of HF and Tacair radios. (SAP, Engineering drawings, change control board, Solidworks, AutoCAD, eView, PDM, etc.)
  • You will gain experience with standard work tools and processes. They will execute CORE certification.
  • This role offers a lot of growth within the role and development opportunities to expand your knowledge for other roles.
  • You will gain communication and collaboration skills that are key within the role.
  • You will also gain leadership skills.
  • There are various on-the-job training as well as professional development opportunities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Working towards a BS in Industrial Engineering.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong background in Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Track record of driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
