RTX BBN Technologies (BBN), a subsidiary of RTX Corporation, is the research company behind many revolutionary advances that we take for granted today. BBN has a great opportunity for a Global Trade Manager to join our BBN Global Trade team. Global Trade plays a critical role in the successful execution of BBN's contracts and allows programs to remain compliant with the U.S. Government in all of our global business transactions. This opportunity provides exposure and visibility in the field of Global Trade operations and its strategic impact on global growth and success.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, developing relationships with internal and external customers, and collaborating with multiple business functions for success.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the Global Trade Sr. Manager and/or Empowered Official to develop export and import plans for engagements with universities, research and development projects and international marketing of defense, dual use, and commercial articles
  • Manage the process for foreign person employees to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Assess pursuits and proposals for export control applicability based on specific work and technologies and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulations and internal policies
  • Provide interpretation of fundamental research as defined in the ITAR and EAR to internal stakeholders
  • Develop and deliver training as required for employees engaged in international business activities
  • Assist in identifying compliance concerns by identifying errors and areas requiring improvement and implementing corrective actions to resolve problems
  • Manage day-to-day execution of authorizations with oversight by Global Trade Sr. Manager, or Empowered Official, ensuring compliance for all activities under the authorizations
  • Provide consistent interpretation under the ITAR and EAR to BBN employees
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through review and approval of foreign travel, foreign visits and export and import transactions
  • Draft and manage International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulation (EAR) export authorizations. Authorizations include Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs), Manufacturing License Agreements (MLAs), DSP-5s, DSP-73s, DSP-85s, Exemptions and Exceptions
  • Contribute to learning and audit assessment programs to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls
  • Support management in investigating and resolving compliance matters, audits and investigations
  • Maintain applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Candidates should expect that they may be required to travel to a BBN, RTX, teammate, or customer site for meetings or other business-related activities.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
  • Experience working in a regulated environment or industry supporting licenses, agreements, compliance, transactional activities, application of regulations such as ITAR or EAR, or similar auditing and compliance roles
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with ITAR and EAR
  • Familiarity and working understanding of U.S. Munitions List and Commerce Control List classification determination processes and export and import regulatory requirements
  • Experience operating with non-U.S. trade regulations
  • Familiarity with RTX Global Trade licensing requirements and processes
  • Knowledge of SNAP-R, OCR, DECCS and/or SAP/GTS systems

Work Location

This is a hybrid role, eligible candidates must reside or relocate within commuting distance of Cambridge, MA. Please consider the following role type definition as you apply for this role:

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Employees are required to be on-site for 3 days per workweek. Schedule of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader. Please note that role type assignments are not permanent and may change as position responsibilities change due to business needs or if you change positions.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
