The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:

RTX BBN solves challenging problems of high importance to our customers in the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community and Industry by rapidly prototyping systems for sensing complex physical phenomena, correlating them to events of interest, and producing high-value, actionable information from the sensed data. The team specializes in delivering networked sensor system solutions by combining a strong understanding of the underlying physics, high-fidelity modeling, simulation of complex signatures and propagation phenomenology, deep expertise in signal processing, EM and RF phenomenology, and computer science, proven capabilities in system development, and mature tools to enable rapid design cycles from theory to demonstration. We are currently searching for a highly qualified digital signal processing (DSP) / field-programmable gate array (FPGA) research scientist to join our team in Arlington, VA.

What you will do:

BBN is seeking a research scientist interested in advancing FPGA design. You will join our team of electrical engineers, physicists, and mathematicians as we build and deliver advanced prototype systems that exploit the RF spectrum. The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Advancing research and development of prototypes to meet customer requirements of special communication protocols to include real-time detection, filtering and tracking, array processing, and direction-finding targeting FPGA algorithmic instantiation.
  • Utilize your understanding of RF propagation, digital logic, digital circuitry, and computer architecture to implement efficient high-performance designs in FGPA applications for government customer technology demonstrations.
  • Candidate will make immediate contributions to the team under the guidance of a senior mentor.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), or Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) or Bachelor's degree and minimum 2 years of professional experience.
  • Ability to obtain a government security clearance. US Citizenship is required.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Matlab and SIMULINK
  • Fundamental understanding of computer architecture, digital circuitry, and digital logic
  • Ability to independently execute responsibilities with limited review or supervision
  • Ability to take proactive action to anticipate, understand, and meet program and team needs
  • AMD and/or Intel FPGA development experience
  • Familiarity with high level tools (e.g. HDL Coder, HLS)

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
