The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Global Chemical Substances Program team.

Basic Function

Responsible for the development, management, and leadership of the RTX Global Chemical Substances Program (GCSP) including strategic vision, identification and implementation of metrics, targets, goals, and systems to mitigate risk of business disruption due to continued growth in global chemical regulatory regimes.

Lead and develop direct reports and collaborate closely with business unit teams to ensure that all operations are aware of changing regulatory requirements to support RTX expectations related to compliance with all laws. This requires working cross functionally with groups including Operations, Engineering, Global Trade, Government Relations, Legal, and Supply Chain.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the Corporate GCSP team to benchmark and coordinate global chemical (and related) regulatory change management by engaging with industry association groups, corporate memberships (e.g. IAEG, AmCham), key information sources/organizations, and by monitoring tools/services.
  • Disseminate regulatory development information and consolidate responses to develop initial RTX impact assessment.
  • Coordinate with business unit subject matter experts to finalize applicability/impact assessment, develop substance-specific risk mitigation strategies and identify cross-business unit collaboration teams where appropriate. Monitor and assist business unit efforts as needed.
  • Evaluate longer term systematic tools to simplify impact assessments, partnering with process transformation team to ensure requirements are baked into digital initiatives.
  • Interact with cross functional teams and leadership across RTX (Ops & SC, Engineering, MRO, Legal, Government Relations, Global Trade, etc.) to formulate and action steps to mitigate business disruption risks.
  • Drive timely response and appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
  • Regularly brief Business Unit and RTX leadership about significant risk areas and plans to appropriately mitigate risks.
  • Develop and execute on a plan to mature the assurance program.
  • Represent RTX's interests through active participation in various organizations such as regulatory authorities, trade associations and professional groups, as necessary. Interactions may include presentations, negotiations and lobbying support.
  • Must be willing to travel 25-35% of the time, domestically and internationally.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Material Science or other related science, along with a well-developed understanding of Global Chemical Substances Regulatory issues.
  • A minimum of 14+ years in Global Chemical Compliance and Risk Management, EH&S, Sustainability and Materials Science/Substitution is required.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships in a matrix along with strong written and oral communication and program management skills.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

The salary range for this role is 176,000 USD - 352,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
