As an Enterprise Architect at Raytheon, you will contribute to and execute the strategic roadmaps and direction of the Digital Technology Architecture Center of Excellence (CoE) team. This small team of senior architects is responsible for scaling, operating and maturing our architecture practice across Digital by providing consistent frameworks, roles, processes, and technology patterns to create trusted, compliant and efficient solutions together. In this role, you will establish and implement critical Digital strategies and operational plans for business, domain, and solution architects across Raytheon. This experienced senior individual contributor will report to the Enterprise Architecture Leader in Raytheon Digital.
You will be the primary architect to develop and maintain master enterprise landscape models depicting key systems, integrations, data flows, and relationships to guide investments and strategic planning.
You will collaborate with peer enterprise and solution architects, stakeholders and cross-functional leaders across RTX businesses to achieve these objectives. Your work will be featured in our architecture repository, knowledgebase, intranet presence, and standard work and briefed to senior leaders.
You will work across Digital teams, business functions, and other RTX businesses to build relationships, assess, understand, and improve the architecture practice. You will also create and contribute to strategic architectural roadmaps, objectives, establish policy and technological standards. You will also act as an expert consultant to aid in the development of investments and technical solutions to drive transformational initiatives and business outcomes. You may be assigned to lead architecture work for complex, strategic initiatives that require extensive investigation and analysis.
As an architect, you will use formal architecture frameworks, agile practices, and strategic thinking (including TOGAF, Zachman, Scaled Agile, and CORE) to optimize our work, and coach architects on best practices and agile concepts. You will identify and organize how Raytheon Digital practices architecture and champion continuous improvement to help all Digital architects execute as a unified community.
What you will do:
- Be an RTX digital technology leader. Lead cross functional architecture efforts to deliver solutions for RTX customers and business needs. Partner closely across Application, Data, Infrastructure and Cyber Security architects.
- Be a thought leader in identifying business-wide problems and opportunities that that affect strategic outcomes through business architecture, practices, assessments and models. Advocate for innovative and new platform capabilities and solutions.
- Establish and implement Enterprise Architecture models, artifacts, standards, and roadmaps for business, functional, and solution level systems. Ensure Enterprise Reference Architectures are leveraged across all of RTX.
- Mentor and coach architects to ensure successful implementation of IT systems by demonstrating technical judgment and adherence to architectural strategies, processes, and practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of enterprise architectures, models, and processes for all architects to use.
- Mature Digital Technology's architecture practice by establishing shared principles, strategies, and implementation techniques. Contribute to growing the maturity and capabilities of the architecture team.
- Consult with senior-level executives, business/technology leaders, and engineers to understand, explain, and influence complex IT environments.
- Support engagements across RTX Business Units, including developing technical solutions for current and future challenges
- Provide expert knowledge of enterprise architecture and lean agile best practices to mature Digital Technology's architecture practice and guide the implementation and adoption.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires bachelor's degree and minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience or a master's degree and minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or in lieu of a bachelor's degree minimum 16 years of prior relevant experience or associate degree and minimum 14 years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience architecting and implementing large technology transformation initiatives.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- TOGAF trained or certified with experience using the Architecture Development Method framework to build and mature an enterprise architecture practice.
- Experience with formal architecture modeling, such as UML, BPMN, SysML, and ArchiMate using Sparx Enterprise Architect and similar tools.
- Demonstrated deep technical expertise and domain competencies in application development, data analytics, cloud infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity.
- Experience and certifications in AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills including presentation and negotiation skills, preparing executive level briefings and summary explanations
- Ability to dive deep and learn most aspects of how a business is structured to create value.
- Experience with full lifecycle of IT systems and changes, including planning, design, deployment, and operations.
- Experience working in a distributed team environment including facilitating cross organizational solutions and locations in response to diverse objectives
- Self-directed with demonstrated ability to organize and provide technical leadership for a diverse (both geographic and technical) team
- Ability to use abstraction and simplification to comprehend and communicate complex systems and ideas to different audiences.
- Persistence, focus, and dedication to working through long-term highly complex problems to realize incremental and long-term objectives.
- Compassionate people-focused leadership, to influence and build and develop relationships and key partnerships of trust.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
