Join our team as a Business Development Engineer!

What You Will Do:

  • Customer & Team Communication: Serve as the key liaison between customers and the integrated project team, ensuring a deep understanding of customer technical requirements while clearly conveying the organization's certification capabilities, standards, and expertise.
  • Proposal Development: Lead the creation and review of detailed technical proposals, synthesizing knowledge of product specifications, regulatory requirements, market trends, pricing, and organizational strategy to deliver compelling, tailored solutions for customers.
  • Certification Coordination: Oversee all activities required to meet specific product certification criteria, collaborating with DERs, ODAs, DOAs, OEMs, regulatory bodies (FAA, CAAs), and other relevant authorities to ensure seamless compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of complex technical analyses and tests related to new designs, materials, and methods. Ensure all work meets rigorous industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and company procedures, while providing actionable feedback to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Customer & Regulatory Documentation: Research and interpret regulations, compile critical data, and generate high-quality documentation in response to customer needs or requests from FAA and international regulatory agencies. Ensure clear, effective communication with all parties involved.
  • Continuous Learning & Industry Leadership: Keep at the forefront of technical developments by engaging in ongoing education, reading industry publications, and contributing to the development of emerging standards in the field.
  • Strategic Planning & Risk Mitigation: Define and implement program-specific certification strategies, managing risk effectively to ensure compliance and project success.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Work as a collaborative team member across departments, embodying the organization's core values and vision. Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering professional growth and a culture of excellence.

Travel Requirements: Business travel will be required up to 25% of time.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering. Minimum 10+ years of Experience in engineering, including testing/certification of aircraft seating and knowledge of Collins seating products.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Qualification We Prefer:

  • Demonstrated experience with various tasks involved in certification and testing of airplane seating products
  • 15+ years of Certification/Test experience, including prior experience in certification by test and certification by analysis
  • Knowledge of FEA and other simulation tools used to mitigate certification risks or reduce the scope of certification effort
  • Competence with Microsoft Office suite to include Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine documents and correspondence
  • Ability to use reasoning, creativity and rational analysis to reduce the scope of certification, while maintaining the compliance of the product.
  • Experience analyzing and identifying failure modes of systems
  • Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings.
  • Advanced knowledge of product certification including knowledge of PMA/TSO/STC/OEM qualification and certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
