The Assistant General Counsel Government Contracts Compliance reports directly to the Government Contracts Compliance Counsel. The role serves as the legal point of contact for guidance and direction on government contract compliance matters and manages a variety of government contract compliance initiatives. Critical to this role is the Counsel's ability to quickly establish and maintain trust and foster a positive reputation with key business and functional leaders.

What You Will Do

  • Advise on a variety of government contract compliance matters, at the prime and subcontracts level including, the Truth In Negotiations Act, Organizational Conflicts of Interest, cost principles, and fiscal law
  • Support internal business as a strategic partner in the legal function and provide sound advice to team members and members of senior management on legal and compliance matters
  • Draft or assist in drafting legal or business correspondence to customers and other third parties
  • Assist with managing and resolving contract disputes, bid protests, equitable adjustments, and breach of contract claims.
  • Conduct professional presentations for various purposes and audiences (e.g., presenting legal matters to senior business or Legal team leadership, training business or legal personnel on legal matters)
  • Must be willing and able to travel 10%-20% of the time (domestic and international)

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Juris Doctorate
  • Currently admitted and in good standing with at least one U.S. State bar, and eligible to represent Collins as an in-house legal counsel in job location
  • 10+ years experience supporting a range of government contract compliance issues including the FAR, DFARS, Procurement Integrity, Truth in Negotiations Act, Organizational Conflicts of Interest, cost principles and fiscal law.
  • 10+ years of defense industry experience, including law firm, in-house counsel and/or U.S. Government

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

This position is remote; however, if you live within a reasonable commute of a Collins site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role

The salary range for this role is 176,000 USD - 352,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
