RTX's Sr. Industrial Systems Engineering Manager for Intelligence and Space business unit is seeking a new member for the talented Industrial Engineers team that offers direct support to Operations. The team focuses on what we call the "Fab Four Pillars". These are Capacity/Throughput analysis, leading Lean Manufacturing efforts, Layouts and Labor Standards. The Industrial Systems Engineering Team is a pivotal group that is connected to all aspects of the manufacturing process. We are respected as the "process experts" that is rooted in safety, ethics and compliance. We understand our customers' focus quality, productivity and improving our culture. Work is conducted both individually as well as teaming up with multiple subject matter experts to optimize our operations.

What you will do:

  • Partner closely with Factory Industrial Engineers and Program Industrial Engineers to create predictable manufacturing systems.
  • Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify undesirable effects and Lead opportunities for improvement.
  • Calculate resource utilization, cycle time, required SWIP and identify throughput constraints to achieve takt.
  • Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals.
  • Create process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key metrics.
  • Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory capacity, Manufacturing Technology insertion, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and the integration of new capabilities.
  • Partner with project managers and factory support functions to improve modify the factory footprint and layout of factory equipment as needed.
  • Support program contract proposals, business case development for future investments, supplier assessments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses.

What you will learn:

You will learn how to leverage the strength of our team and systems to perform analysis as well as work with various levels of our Operations team to improve our processes through deployment of our Lean Transformation Strategy. RTX offers multiple paid certifications on Lean Tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and internal best practices that can be applied to projects promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Travel Requirement:

There will be opportunities for domestic travel to offer support to other sites as well as benchmark best practices. Travel may be up to 50%.

Shift Information:

1st Shift primarily but may need to occasionally work off-shift hours as needed for project.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering, or other STEM degree.
  • You must have a minimum of 5 years of factory/manufacturing experience or 3 years with a master's degree.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Degreed Industrial Engineer with Manufacturing experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and Facilitation skills. Ideal candidate will be able to work well with floor operators, peers, and management.
  • Proficient in Lean Principles, Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints methodologies and tools
  • Proficient in Process Simulations who is self-motivated change agent with a bias for action and a sense of urgency; demonstrates accountability by holding self and others accountable to the team charter.
  • AutoCAD, Visio, SQL, Power BI and Process Simulation exposure

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
