What You Will Do:
This is a Weekend Shift position: Friday - Sunday from 6:30 am - 7 pm.
You will work as an Operations Mechanic supporting Columbus Engine Center (CEC), Geared Turbo Fan (GTF) or Military Engine Center of Excellence (MECoE) in Disassembly, Assembly and Test (DAT). You will be responsible for turbine engine, engine module, or component maintenance in accordance with published work instructions and approved technical data. Your scope of work will include:
- Assembly/ Disassembly: Work with assigned personnel or independently to perform flight-quality jet engine assembly/disassembly or related operations. Perform general assembly or disassembly operations. Use prescribed assembly/disassembly techniques to facilitate the flow of work through the assembly/disassembly processes to meet production schedule and business commitments. Utilize common hand tools as well as a wide variety of tooling and fixtures to assemble/disassembly and test a jet engine. Ensure all phases of assembly/disassembly as specified by work instructions, comply with required self-inspection or peer inspection of critical processes ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Test: Work with assigned personnel to perform test operations in accordance with applicable technical data and published standard practices. Assist in set-up and operation of test facilities including special test equipment. Ensure all functions are performed according to Pratt & Whitney, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Quality policies. Perform other related work assignments as required or directed by supervision that supports department objectives. Monitor and ensure processes meet Safety, Quality and Delivery objectives.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1+ year(s) of experience in aviation mechanic role or appropriate technical training (ASE certification or military equivalent)
- Basic understanding of DAT - Disassembly, Assembly, Test.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Value:
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License OR Powerplant (P) License
- Basic understanding of continuous improvement principles such as Lean Six Sigma or RTX's CORE Operating System
- Engine overhaul and repair experience, GTF and/or F117, PW2000, in one or more of the following disciplines: Disassembly, Inspection, Assembly, Turbine Engine Test Operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
