The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:

RTX has an opening for an AI/ML Software Engineer (Manager, Software Development). Individual Contributor Role. Remote Opportunity.

We are seeking an engineer to join RTX in the Enterprise Data Services organization, AI Software and Data Engineering team. You will play an active role in bringing cutting edge data capabilities to RTX.

TEAM: Our team builds enablers, products, and services that practitioners across the enterprise use to solve a vast variety of aerospace challenges, including designing hardware for safer flight, predictable maintenance, and improving the reliability of systems that keep us safe. RTX's wide portfolio and diverse network ensure that you will work with some of the brightest minds of today on some of the most difficult challenges in the world.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with product managers, technical leadership, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders to support the team as we bring advanced data capabilities to RTX.
  • Design, write, test, deploy, protect, and monitor Python code in support of machine learning products, tools, and services across RTX.
  • Write production quality code that is maintainable, scalable, organized, and readable.
  • Bring advanced AI/ML capabilities to RTX through software and cloud engineering, including generative AI, MLOps, and ML-augmented engineering.
  • Travel: Possibly up to 5% between RTX sites.

What You Will Learn:

  • The software development life cycle, what beautiful code looks and feels like, the mindset of an experienced engineer, and the confidence to grow.
  • Fundamental cloud knowledge and experience using native cloud (AWS/Azure) services, third party cloud products such as Databricks and Snowflake, and open-source enablers.
  • Agile software development.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically 8+ years' experience in software development and a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree; Advanced degree and 5+ years' related work experience.
  • 3+ years' experience with writing production quality Python code and leveraging the Python scientific stack (numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, pandas).
  • 2+ years' experience with the Software Development Life Cycle and software application / product development.
  • 1+ years' experience with data science, machine learning, and/or data engineering.
  • Current U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Familiarity with cloud computing.
  • A flexible and patient mindset, interested in working on a variety of multi-disciplinary challenges with varying stakeholders, partners, domains, and toolsets.
  • Experience building products that use Large Language Models (LLMs) or LLM APIs.
  • Experience with Front-End technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, React, CSS).
  • Experience with Git, Github, or similar version control system, Jira, Confluence, and agile development.
  • 3+ years relevant experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS and/or Azure.)
  • Other helpful experience: SQL, Node, REST APIs, testing libraries.

Educational Requirements:

Typically a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
