The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:
RTRC is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Advanced Manufacturing Lead Research Technician. The candidate will join the Advanced Manufacturing Team which specializes in the development and demonstration of manufacturing technologies for internal deployment as well as for external research programs across a variety of technical areas including machining, repair, additive manufacturing, robotic automation, surface treatment, sensing, amongst many others. The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing and demonstration of novel manufacturing processes. The individual will work with the team in a fast-paced, R&D environment alongside leading scientists and colleagues from across RTRC and the greater RTX organization (including Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon) to develop and demonstrate next generation technologies for aerospace and defense applications.
Job responsibilities include:
- Programming and operation of industrial robotic systems and motion platforms
- Configuration and setup of experiments to support manufacturing process development
- Execution of experiments and testing for novel manufacturing processes
- Troubleshooting equipment issues and making necessary repairs and adjustments
- Sample preparation, general machining and fixture fabrication
- Collaboration and coordination with RTRC teams to execute research programs
- Working safely at all times, following all safety protocols and procedures
Required qualifications:
- AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and equipment
- Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., ABB, FANUC, KUKA, etc.) and/or related manufacturing automation technologies
- U.S. Citizen required
Recommended qualifications:
- Proven ability to create, maintain, and organize accurate and thorough records related to laboratory experiments and instrumentation
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently with limited direction
- Knowledge of robotic operation and configuration/programming (e.g., ABB RAPID, KUKA KRL)
- Hands on experience with welding or metal additive manufacturing / 3D printing
- Familiarity with machining, welding, coating, assembly, and advanced manufacturing methods
- Background with manufacturing process automation including programming (robotic, PLC, etc.)
Must be a commutable distance from East Hartford, CT to work on site

The salary range for this role is 56,000 USD - 112,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
