This position will be the OpX Director for our new Advanced Casting Foundry in the Asheville, NC facility. The position will be responsible for all technical activities related to standing up the new foundry and bringing it into production to make advanced (double-wall) turbine airfoil castings for our commercial and military product lines.
What You Will Do:
- Reporting to this position will be the Casting Engineering team (Process and Product Engineers), the Industrial Engineering team, out Automation team as well as our CORE lead for the new foundry.
- This position will work to grow that team, on-site in Asheville and work closely with the Hot Section Module Center (HSMC) OpX team and the OpX leadership at P&W to drive consistency and best practices for our new facility.
- This position will also work directly with our teams in Mikro Systems (Charlottesville, VA) and the Rapid Prototype Casting Lab (RPCL - EH, CT) to drive Operational Excellence at all three sites.
- This position will build skills sets into the team that will allow us to have a fully digitally connected foundry and utilize new tools sets like Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to drive casting process improvements and improved casting yields.
- This position will also lead our incorporation of Model Based Design, Manufacturing and Inspection (MBDMI) for the new foundry to ensure that we are highly efficient and meet the aggressive goals laid out in the ACF business case. This will include brining automation in for the foundry that will make it the most automated, single-crystal casting foundry in the US. This position will be responsible for all hiring, firing and training of the technical team at the foundry.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's Degree and 14 years of experience to include engineering, Model Based Design, Manufacturing and Inspection, Machine Learning and AI, direct people management or an Advanced Degree and 12 years of experience to include engineering, Model Based Design, Manufacturing and Inspection, Machine Learning and AI, direct people management
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Prior experience communicating cross functionally and with all levels of leadership.
- Experience with new facility start up

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 176,000 USD - 352,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
