The Precision Control and Actuation Systems department consists of nearly 150 engineers working collaboratively with internal and external customers and programs to provide innovative solutions for controlling our products motion, including ground, sea, and air launched vehicles used by a variety of end users who depend on the quality and integrity of our systems. Our systems include control algorithms and firmware, electronic control units, actuators containing high power motors and precision gear trains, and other components for interfacing with the vehicle and packaging the control assemblies. Due to the highly cross-functional nature of these systems, we are constantly looking for talented engineers with a system-solution mindset.

This position is for an intern who will be ready to contribute to the PCAS team with innovative solutions for challenging problems of mechanical and control systems.
What You Will Do
- Participate on CAS (Control Actuation Systems) Development Teams.
- Perform Mechanical Engineering design tasks using CAD (CREO).
- Conduct Drawing/Document release process.
- Perform Mechanical Tolerance Analysis using Geometric Dimension and Tolerance best practices.
- Work with development teams to assess system performance for prototypes.
Qualifications You Must Have
- This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) degree program and must be a Junior, Senior, or Post-Graduate by the start of Summer 2025.
- Must be pursuing as bachelor's or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
- Experience utilizing CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools such as CREO or equivalent.
- Experience with Engineering Analysis and Simulation software and programming tools such as MATLAB and Python.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Specific majors: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM discipline
- Knowledge of mechanical design, engineering, and analysis.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes, including machining, casting, forging, welding, and bonding.
- Knowledge of mechanical drawing practices, dimensioning, and tolerancing
- Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
