Job Summary:
The Hardware In the Loop (HWIL) Department in Huntsville, AL is a multi-discipline organization responsible for designing, building and integrating state of the art testing environments (flight simulators for missiles), as the last step before flight test. On our team, you will work with weapon system designers to understand requirements, design solutions, integrate, and deploy the systems to help support tactical software development, testing, and delivery for missiles to the warfighter.

This position can be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Post Graduate Technical Intern based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:
- (Sophomore Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and classified as a Sophomore by start of internship
- (Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and classified as a Junior by start of internship
- (Senior Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and classified as a Senior by start of internship
- (Post-Graduate Technical Intern) - must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship
What You Will Do:
- Work on a multi-disciplined team to support systems integration
- Support troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment
- Work in a lab environment integrating software, firmware and hardware in support of complex systems
Qualifications You Must Have:
- This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Sophomore year by the start of summer 2025
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Academic or internship experience that included hands-on testing of electronic equipment
- Exposure to troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, or as part of a hobby
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience troubleshooting systems using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, network analyzers, and/or spectrum analyzers
- Experience with using telemetry data collection equipment to capture real time data and/or real time monitoring
- Experience with electrical schematics, interface control documentation, and communications protocols
- Experience with reading and integrating software routines with hardware/electronics; C/C++/C# preferred
- Experience with instrumentation and collection of large data sets, including the application of scripting or automation to data collection and analysis
- Highly motivated individual with a positive attitude

We Are RTX
The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
