Job Summary:
Packaging Engineering career field specializes in designing safe, ergonomic, innovative, and cost-effective custom packaging solutions that aid in the manufacturing process, material handling, and delivery of Raytheon Missiles & Defense products. Packaging Engineers create and maintain special packaging instructions for the packaging of components and end items alike. Packaging Engineers use computer aided design technology to generate 3-dimensional models and technical drawing packages. Packaging Engineers are responsible for all aspects of design, documentation, procuring and integrating those designs into a highly complex manufacturing environment. Packaging Engineers oversee projects from development to implementation and strive to incorporate safe, ergonomic, error-proofed, and innovative solutions into the factory.

What You Will Do:
- Develop 3-dimensional packaging solutions using CREO
- Capture & communicate packaging concepts with manufacturing & factory teams.
- Identify opportunities for improvement within our factories.
- Interpret and read mechanical engineering drawings.
- Establish designs with significant consideration given to good error-proofing techniques.
- Integrate COTS components to increase design usability and cost effectiveness.
- Adjust designs as necessary to meet stakeholder needs.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and analyze design flaws and production issues.
- Assimilate all problem details and brainstorm potential solutions.
- Follow and support established guidelines regarding drawing layouts and release procedures.
- Strong mechanical engineering aptitude and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Develop, document, and maintain special packaging instructions.
- Interpret numerous ASTM, and Military Standards
- Provides packaging engineering resources to support factory initiatives.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering/Science
- This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Clearance (ATF)
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Technical writing experience
- Previous packaging design experience
- Factory integration experience
- Additive manufacturing experience
- Experience evaluating a request/issue and conceptualizing an innovative packaging solution.
- Strong mechanical aptitude (ex. Project development, hobbies), and analytical skills
- Basic experience or education with CAD modeling
- Basic experience or education with drawing interpretation
- Strong knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Office tools
- Strong ability to work in teams and collaborate with peers and internal customers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills - comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data
- Ability to learn new processes quickly and effectively multi-task
- Experience with CFR-49 Hazardous material transportation regulation.
- Experience in use of military standards, MIL-STD-2073, Mil-STD -129
Working Environments:
This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas.
Location Information:
- Tucson, AZ
- Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Clearance Information:
This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD - 107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
