Senior Financial Analyst, Marketing

The Sr. Financial Analyst, Marketing is a key player with the Finance Department and Marketing Department leadership teams and responsible for ensuring that all activity with financial implications is within financial guidelines, are properly structured and properly accounted (SOX / GAAP) for in the financial systems.

The Sr. Financial Analyst, Marketing supports the financial forecasting and administration of Marketing sales & marketing activities, capital planning, and analysis of business initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and utilize strong understanding of accounting principles to support the management of financial and strategic initiatives with limited impact to operating plan.
  • Create and analyze forecasts and planning for Media and Production activities, as well as completing month end accruals/reconciliation.
  • Maintain continuous contact with Media and Production directors / Agency Partners to keep current on business developments.
  • Coordinate, conduct and summarize various analyses, as determined by Senior Management, in support of both strategic and operational decision making.
  • Translate analytics into the stakeholder's native language and tell stories to make complex things simple to understand and translate into measurable actions.
  • Partner with the Finance organization, including Accounting, to make sure accuracy and timeliness of reporting and invoice processing.
  • Project collaboration in multi-functional team settings champion partnership within finance and marketing teams to execute against challenging deadlines.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of benchmark reports for operating groups.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operating performance through information gathering and analysis.
  • Provide analysis, insights, and recommendations on projects such as forecast process improvements. Support financial leadership in providing training to budget holders on best practices.
  • Assist with ad-hoc questions/ issues/projects as they arise, making recommendations where appropriate.
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of financial models to be used in economic/financial research and analyses for use in the development of business strategies and in subsequent analyses of results (e.g. credit card rewards program maintenance and reporting).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
  • Four-year Bachelor's or equivalent (MBA preferred);
  • Four to 8 years related finance or accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidate must possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work effectively with all levels of personnel. Strong PC skills are required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Advanced analytical skills should include mathematical modeling, broad exposure to operations research, and statistics.
  • Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Essbase required.
  • Proactive and engaged in understanding departmental financials.
  • Strong business intelligence and strategic perspective on optimizing financial costs.
  • Strong benchmarking, trend analysis and analytical skills to identify efficiencies and cost saving opportunities.
  • Understanding of JDE and Hyperion Brio.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to succeed in a team environment.
  • Ability to share information and work in a standardized environment.
  • Understanding of accounting processes, procedure and internal controls.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities with confidence and composure.
