Position Summary:

This position will work directly with the Head of Brand Finance and the Director of Finance, Capital and Business Analytics to financially manage Capital projects / initiatives geared at supporting the Entertainment and other business units' capital performance and strategic goals and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

The Manager, Finance & Capital Projects is responsible for driving the Capital Process for the Brand's Entertainment and other departments, as needed, planning, and reporting DEAR & capital projects and related forecasts, while providing financial framework for numerous special projects including review and/or preparation of business cases for the department's long-term Capital Projects. Primary responsibilities include development of annual capital & DEAR budgets in collaboration with Brand Finance team, managing capital submissions through the approval process and forecasting capital spend, reviewing spend activity to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, ensuring proper investment of capital funds, depreciation and write offs and budgeting/forecasting project related costs. Note: This position may include unique requirements specific to the Brand, including finance & strategy reporting and other analyses. Management will provide specifics as to any unique requirements that are different or in addition to this core description.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead DEAR & Capital Project Budgeting/Forecasting; annual consolidation and prioritization of Brand project requests, monthly forecasting of project status against plan.
  • Lead the development and update of the 5-year Entertainment's DEARs and other capital plan.
  • Develop standard weekly financial reporting package, performance management dashboards and models, incorporating key capital spend and funding metrics.
  • Audits DEAR & capital projects for compliance to ensure all financial aspects of a project are in accordance with established policies and procedures, including proper approvals, funding sources and capitalization of expenses.
  • Identifies variances to budget, monitors performance indicators highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances and provide explanations.
  • Conduct continuous financial analysis, including, in-depth capital expenditures and funding sources analyses and reports findings on a timely manner, ensuring that risks and issues are reviewed and resolved in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Manage Capital Approval process; development of business case and financial projections with project managers and co-ordination of various levels of Committee review, influence outcomes through interactions with Project Owners Hotel, Newbuild, Marketing, and Accounting.
  • Develop standard weekly financial reporting package, performance management dashboards and models, incorporating key capital spend and funding metrics.
  • Quarterly Capital Forecasts: update of timing of spend projections for all open projects, in-service forecasts for accurate planning of write off calculations and reporting to Capital Planning.
  • Drive Capital Strategy: provide recommendations on capital allocations and develop/maintain long term Capital Project Plan.
  • Manage and Facilitate Capital Project Management. Continuous updates with Project Owners on Project Execution (timing and spend).
  • Manage and Provide Key Analytical Support on Business Cases for the company's long term strategic projects.
  • Prepare presentations and communications for Brand leadership.
  • Complete procedures as outlined in Company policies and procedures (SOX and other requirements).
  • Develop business cases and financial packages for DEAR & capital project requests.
  • Consolidate and report on DEAR & Capital projects and forecasting monthly and quarterly.
  • Execute on SOX and Company capital reporting requirements.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis as required.
  • Travel up to 30% or more may be expected with some overseas and/or shipboard travel as needed.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
  • Proficient understanding and working knowledge of GAAP as it relates to depreciation and fixed assets.
  • Advanced Project Management skills and be able to develop, assess and select proper strategy, considering performance, budget, schedule, and scope constraints.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work effectively with all levels of operational personnel.
  • Strong PC skills including advanced Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project required.
  • Advanced analytical skills should include long term financial modeling and capital project management.
  • Understanding of cruise line operations in hotel and technical aspects, as well as global deployment.
