The Royal Caribbean Group's Royal Caribbean International Brand has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager of Commercial Finance reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Planning.

This position works on-site in Miami, Florida

Position Summary:

This position will work directly with the Head of Brand Finance, Senior Director of Brand Finance, and the Leadership of the Commercial Teams to financially manage and support the strategic initiatives and commercial operations of the North America commercial teams.

The Manager of Royal Caribbean International Commercial Finance will ensure cost of sales and overheads remain controlled and understood, with particular focus on providing the market with relevant, timely and accurate management information, enabling effective strategic decision making across the management team. There will be particular focus on the analysis of travel agent commissions and contracts, selling and general administrative expenses, on ship financial and non-financial performance, sales performance reporting, sales incentives, control of overhead, marketing expenses analytics, preparation and interpretation of business cases, and support of both annual operating plans and longer-term strategic plans. Position will also be responsible in reviewing and evaluating charter financial performance and overall contracts associated with the commercial teams. The position will also focus on ensuring that commission and SG&A expenses are properly budgeted, spend remains within approved budgets, variances are properly and timely understood and explained, while ensuring compliance with company accounting policies and procedures. Management will provide specifics as to any unique requirements that are different or in addition to this core description.

This role will have direct reports, which financially support the sales and marketing commercial teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the Sr. Director, RCI Finance and Commercial Leaders, including preparation of business presentations and strategic information to enable informed decision making.
  • Responsible for ensuring the effective management of sales, marketing and revenue management SG&A budgets and commission expenses.
  • Support the trade and consumer distribution strategy to ensure effective implementation.
  • Support the sales and marketing teams in review and analysis of commercial agreements by acting as a business partner, offering insights, analysis and recommendations.
  • Track & forecast on-going commission costs based on partner & business performance.
  • Oversee the financial management of the trade co-op budget, monthly forecasting and ROI to drive lower cost of sale.
  • Support the marketing organization with analysis of funding requirements, ensuring S&M funds are correctly allocated, briefed into campaign planning and spend.
  • Ensure the ongoing SG&A spend is controlled, understood & communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Development and review of relevant business cases and ROI analysis.
  • Lead the preparation of key management presentations to review the business against key strategic priorities.
  • Support commercial teams and capital planning team in understanding and business case of capital requests for the commercial organizations.
  • Review of charter agreements for financial integrity and support from revenue teams.
  • Analysis of variances to budget, monitors performance indicators highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances and provide explanations.
  • Conduct continuous financial analysis, including, in-depth expenditures and funding sources analyses and reports findings on a timely manner, ensuring that risks and issues are reviewed and resolved in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Develop standard weekly financial reporting package, performance management dashboards and models, incorporating key spend metrics.
  • Manage and Provide Key Analytical Support on Business Cases for the company's long term strategic commercial projects.
  • Prepare presentations and communications for Brand leadership.
  • Complete procedures as outlined in Company policies and procedures (SOX and other requirements).
  • Ensure development and support of direct report.
  • Develop business cases and financial packages for commercial teams.
  • Consolidate and report on and sales and marketing spend and forecasting monthly and quarterly.
  • Execute on SOX and Company accounting requirements in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficient understanding and working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Advanced Project Management skills and be able to develop, assess and select proper strategy, considering performance, budget, schedule, and scope constraints.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work effectively with all levels of operational personnel.
  • Strong PC skills including advanced Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project required.
  • Advanced analytical skills should include long term financial modeling and capital project management.
  • Understanding of cruise line operations in hotel and technical aspects, as well as global deployment.
  • Four-year Bachelor's or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or other highly analytical field from an accredited college or university (MBA preferred); or four to ten years related financial and business analysis experience, particularly in Commercial Finance, project management and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The employee is occasionally required to walk to the dock, ascend and descend the vessel. This position may regularly travel domestically or internationally. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
