Position Summary:

The Procurement Manager is responsible for the direct management of categories assigned, including development of procurement strategy and objectives in line with Company Brand requirements. The role is responsible for the sourcing, negotiation, and contracting of all products in the assigned categories.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and manages an efficient total cost of ownership model which considers many complex variables including but not limited to price, freight, holding cost, currency, and supply volatility.
  • Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Plans, organizes, and controls the activities related to the assigned procurement function.
  • Manages the sourcing, quality control and supplier management for all products in the assigned categories. Manages the negotiation of all components of cost including price, freight, payment terms, and delivery terms.
  • Lead cost savings initiative in the assigned categories. Collaborate with RCG Brand Operations to identify and implement sourcing opportunities on new and existing products. Analyze the data and present findings to Supply Chain and Brand Ops leadership.
  • Evaluate and measure new and existing suppliers, ensuring on-time delivery performance, inventory level, and invoicing policies are maintained. Periodically conduct major supplier reviews.
  • Develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and procurement techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
  • Manage supplier invoicing and statement reconciliation, including resolution of invoices in dispute (IID's). Follow up with suppliers with recurring invoices in dispute to conduct root cause analysis and establish plan for improvement.
  • Prepares and issues Purchase Orders and Change Notices as needed.
  • Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Assigns procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.
  • At least 10 years working experience in a cruise line or maritime shipping environment related to procurement and/or supply chain function is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities; able to quickly prioritize work for maximum impact.
  • Ability to manage the financial aspects of the assigned procurement function, including the successful identification of expense reduction through cost efficiencies.
  • Leads development of procurement and negotiation strategy based on multiple and often complex variables. Negotiates price, availability, transportation, and delivery schedule.
  • Strong knowledge of advanced contract terms and conditions and skilled in uniform commercial code.
  • Strong in analysis, forecasting, problem solving and quality improvement in the execution of strategies. Ensures total costs are identified and optimized throughout the entire procurement process.
  • High degree of skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work effectively with all senior levels of operational personnel (shipboard and shore side).
  • Ability to write reports business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public.
