POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Marine Program Strategy is responsible for supporting the development, tracking, and execution of Global Marine Operations strategic & analytics initiatives across its programs and core business processes. These programs and processes include but are not limited to Technical Operations, Branded Nautical Operations, Hotel Operations, Safety, Security, Environment, Fleet Optimization, Fleet Technical Operations and Decarbonization. The Director will be responsible developing and driving strategic initiatives, leveraging data analytics, and providing actionable insights to support our organization's growth and success. This position reports to AVP, Strategy, BPO & Systems. The Director will liaise with all marine executives and leadership teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and Drive Global Marine Operations Strategy:
  • Formulate and drive the overarching strategy for Global Marine Operations, ensuring alignment with the Company's overall strategic vision.
  • Contribute to the formulation of annual operating plans, providing strategic direction for sustained growth and operational excellence.
  1. Strategic Collaboration and Cross-Functional Leadership:
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize strategic objectives, initiatives, and action plans.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Global Marine strategy, fostering collaboration across all brands and functional areas.
  1. Strategic Insight and Decision Support:
  • Provide sophisticated recommendations and strategic insights to executive leadership, leveraging data analysis, industry expertise, and market trends.
  • Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on critical business decisions.
  1. Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement:
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department and its sub-departments, continually monitoring and evaluating the performance of strategic initiatives.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend adjustments as needed to enhance operational efficiency.
  1. Leadership and Management:
  • Manage and lead the Strategy team, ensuring alignment with the core business functions of Global Marine Operations.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate on cross-functional strategies and initiatives with internal partners, including Supply Chain, Newbuild, Shared Services, Corporate Planning, and Development.
  • Facilitate effective communication between internal and external partners on a global scale.
  1. Knowledge Sharing and Best Practices:
  • Disseminate lessons learned and best practices across all Marine teams, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Drive knowledge sharing initiatives to enhance the overall capabilities of the Global Marine Operations teams.
  1. Strategic Communication and Reporting:
  • Oversee the development of comprehensive reports and presentations for senior executives including the Board.
  • Prepare reports for management, stakeholders, and other relevant audiences.
  • Develop and present materials for Global Marine Operations meetings.
  1. Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and readiness to undertake additional job-related responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or management.
  • The position requires international travel to ships, shipyards, and/or vendor facilities (up to 20%).

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

  • Education: Bachelor's or master's Degree with a concentration Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering OR in Business, Information Systems Management, Project Management, or related field with demonstrated project management experience.
  • Experience: 4-6 years with 1-2 years of experience leading a team.
  • To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with little to no guidance. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Significant experience working with leadership and teams to change and transform organizational design to promote self-organizing teams (Agile/Dynamic Workspace).
  • Significant experience identifying and addressing suboptimal patterns caused by external forces that do not understand the values or the importance of providing teams with an environment for agility and self-organization.
  • Significant experience driving policy and process changes from project-based to continuous delivery methodology. Policy and process changes include Capital Funding, Forecasting, Contracts/Legal, Supply Chain, Invoicing, Reconciliation, Accounting, Auditing, and overall Program Operations.
  • Significant experience leading change efforts with auditors and others who have not worked in a highly-collaborative, dynamic, continuous delivery environment.
  • Significant experience interacting with senior management teams and building effective relationships within the company as well as with internal and external customers.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to implement solutions and influence others to achieve business objectives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience in leading a small to medium size team of professionals.
  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communications skills; particularly within a multicultural environment. Clear and precise communication with all levels of the organization is essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and listening skills, including the ability to adjust style to successfully implement ideas across the business/ships and effectively interact with external and internal channels.
  • Strong planning capabilities to identify and prioritize strategies and activities as well as to meet the deadlines required to support the overall business needs.
  • Must be extremely customer-service oriented.
  • Strong decision-making skills considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, financial and spreadsheet modeling skills.
  • Must possess knowledge of the hospitality industry, current market trends, and economic factors; preferably within an international organization and accustomed to working with a highly diverse work group.
  • Understanding of advanced analytical concepts, reporting, and technical drawings necessary to assist in special project and dry dock planning.
  • Software: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, PowerBI, and Project required.
  • Internal candidates: Knowledge of AMOS, Lotus Notes Database, the CAR process, budget, approval.
  • Language requirements: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific, engineering, and technical journals, business periodicals, financial reports, legal documents, and government regulations. Ability to clearly and effectively present information to top management and public groups.
