Position Summary

This is a non-exempt position responsible for preparing all documentation processing related to the export of goods from our Logistics Center through various international ports for provisioning to RCCL and Celebrity vessels. This position is responsible for planning and creating international ocean shipments as well as complying with the different country documentation requirements.

The major accountabilities include:
  • Prepares the booking of domestic and international freight from any warehouse location (mainly our Logistics Center) in accordance to the established routing guide. Contacts the various steamship lines for booking details and coordinates the equipment needs based on the MLS.
  • Changes and updates the booking information with the steamship lines as needed.
  • Creates Pre-alerts for destination agents with the proper information needed to clear cargo.
  • Prepares the entire export documentation process by creating all necessary documentation such as Bills of Lading, Packing Lists or Manifests, Certificates of Origin, USDA-USDC Certificates, Phytosanitary Certificates.
  • Establishes processes with the USDA, USDC, and Homeland Security offices as well as customs in order to ensure compliance in documentation processing.
  • Instructs external beef, poultry, pork, and seafood suppliers to ensure that they are preparing the proper documents in compliance with the USDA, USDC, and Homeland Security offices.
  • Cultivates business relationships with the port agents and may travel to the foreign ports in order to meet with customs officials on the latest rules and regulations set forth in each country (as needed).
  • Prepares and coordinates the reverse logistics (return of product) process for international shipments as needed.
  • Coordinates with U.S. customs and our customs broker the documentation needed to comply for returning goods.
  • Lead or steer team in Special Projects.
  • Prepares a variety of monthly management reports.
  • Review and update policies and procedures.
  • Identify changes needed as result of regulation changes driven by government agencies.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
  • Associates or bachelor's degree in business administration or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in the international logistics / shipping field preparing international documentation for exporting goods.
  • Thorough knowledge of Incoterms required.
  • Experience in working with freight forwarders, steamship lines, and 3PLs required.
  • Prior experience with USDA, USDC, and Homeland Security offices for compliance preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical applications for spreadsheet analysis.
  • Ability to work on various assignments simultaneously and prioritize.
  • Ability to travel to foreign ports as needed.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing, with department heads, managers, coworkers, shipboard employees, and vendors to gather information and resolve basic problems.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from, management, co-workers, shipboard employees, and vendors.
  • Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within an automated purchasing system as well as variety software packages such as Excel and Word.
