ABOUT THE ROLE

The incumbent is responsible for sourcing, analyzing, and negotiating goods and services for an area inwhich they specialize such as such as food, beverage, technical, IT, etc. They require comprehensiveknowledge of specialized commodities in order to influence customers and suppliers in procurementdecision of complex/critical goods and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research suppliers from a variety of usual and unusual sources.
  • Develops a procurement and negotiation strategy based on few variables
  • Performs moderately complex price analysis based on few variables and confers with suppliers toobtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Negotiates price, availability, and works with Logistics to define transportation and deliveryschedule. (i.e., ordering and storing schedule)
  • Manages supplier performance to ensure consistent service, high quality, and low costs ofgoods/services
  • Works independently with minimum supervision and freedom of decision within guidelines. Seeksguidance from management on unusual situations
  • May provide guidance to Buyer I/II
  • May travel to attend trade shows, audit suppliers, visit ships for loadings, repositioning etc.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years related procurement experience or specialized technical experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.
  • Negotiation and analytical skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levelsof employees and management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically
  • Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,and percentages.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers,clients, customers, and the public.
  • Affinity for food is preffered

Working Conditions:

Theemployee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations, and may lift,push, pull or move 10 -15 pounds. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, andability to adjust focus.
