Position Summary:

The Architect Lead for shipboard technology is an individual contributor reporting to the Sr. Manager of Enterprise Architecture. The shipboard technology Architect Lead is responsible for enterprise-wide initiatives affecting RCG's shipboard environments providing technology leadership, road maps, solution design, and oversight of products & services within the various business divisions. This role ensures that the shipboard IT architecture is aligned with the business goals. While this role will not have direct reports, it is responsible for leading matrixed teams of IT professionals through the Enterprise Architecture methodology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the definition of the architecture vision which supports the overall business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps that guide the evolution of the IT landscape.
  • Supports the development and implementation of the organization's IT architecture across multiple operational brands and associated vessels within the parent company of RCG.
  • Understand and support the architecture for the vast number of capabilities distributed throughout hospitality and maritime technologies.
  • Exhibit deep understanding of the shipboard technology landscape.
  • Aid in oversight of the integrated solutions consisting of a blend of COTS and custom products.
  • Ensure that the appropriate amount of architecture is applied to the requested initiative.
  • Help with the creation and maintenance of architectural frameworks, guidelines, and strategies that align IT resources with business goals.
  • Support enterprise architecture leadership with corporate initiatives in collaboration with various stakeholders, effectively communicating and managing customer expectations.
  • Work closely with business leaders, IT leaders, and other stakeholders to understand their motivation, goals, requirements, constraints and share the architecture vision.
  • Assist in the deployment and integration of IT solutions, ensuring that they are consistent with the enterprise architecture.
  • Working closely with development teams, product analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements and designs.
  • Translate business priorities into information security requirements that ensure protections regarding the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and privacy of the organization's information technologies and its data.
  • Review and approve the design of IT solutions to ensure they fit within the overall enterprise architecture and comply with established architectural standards and governance frameworks.
  • Create and maintain documentation for systems architecture including diagrams, models, and reference architectures that detail the structure and components across architectural technology domains.
  • Depict enterprise data & information conceptually, logically, and physically.
  • Ensure that the architecture supports the organization's security policies and practices.
  • Stay abreast of changes in the business and business environment, as well as the evolving regulatory landscape and privacy practices likely to influence the organization.
  • Assess and select appropriate technologies, platforms, and tools that fit the enterprise architecture.
  • Identify risks associated with the architecture and propose solutions to mitigate.
  • Improve existing processes through solutions address recurring problems not limited to integration, compatibility, and scalability of IT systems.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and trends, and evaluating how these could be integrated into the existing architecture.
  • Identify and promote innovative technologies and practices that can improve business processes.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis for technology investments and architecture changes.
  • Manage the change control process when architecture needs to adapt to meet evolving expectations.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge related to enterprise architecture methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on project progress, issues, and potential risks.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the enterprise architecture are well-documented.
  • Continuously assess the enterprise architecture for improvements and adjustments as business needs evolve.
  • Other job duties as assigned by leadership.

  • Accountable for financial implications and cost of systems and services
  • Provide guidance to ensure technology expenditures align with business objectives
  • Responsible for defining optimization opportunities to manage cost
  • Tracks effort hours by activity in time management tool

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, with an MS/MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years in IT architecture, engineering, and operations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a globally diverse model.

Competencies:

Possesses proficiency, experience, and understanding of the core architecture competencies outlined below:

  • Business Architecture - Analyze the business requirements of the stakeholders, provide optimal & efficient solutioning, and guide the quality assurance process as part of continuous architecture through implementation.
  • Cloud Computing - Define APIs needed to meet the business architecture and translate business requirements into cloud designs.
  • Data - Aid in creation of blueprints, data flows, data entities, and relationships needed to support the business architecture.
  • Data Design (Physical) - Understand the relationships between business data elements, aid in creating of data/database structures, ensure database meets expectations before business use.
  • Information Security - Aid in the implementation of IT Security solutions following published security controls and standards while identifying vulnerabilities.
  • Network - Troubleshoot technical problems while implementing networking solutions according to adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
  • Platform - Ensure that the platform architecture, including but not limited to hardware, languages, & Operating Systems, meets the business architecture.
  • Solution Architecture - Focus on the development of a solution architecture and flow of information needed to solve a business problem through a methodology to define business & computing requirements.
  • Systems Software Infrastructure - Understand low level product level details, related to software and infrastructure, during software testing processes as part of continuous architecture through implementation.
  • System & Technology Integration - Work with the applications, data, and technology bridges across a variety of systems to design appropriate communication between technologies and products.
  • Standards & Procedures - Participate in the creation of processes and policies, use of the methodology to design solutions, and communicate status.

Experience and Skills:
  • Ability to set strategic architectural vision.
  • Demonstrated track record of expertise and domain knowledge of hospitality and maritime technologies.
  • Experience with Architecture frameworks like TOGAF or Zachman, FEA.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Architecture governance & planning processes
  • Ability to lead a matrixed group of IT professionals including full time employees, staff-augmented contractors, and 3rd party software providers in a team environment, both virtually and in-person.
  • Affinity for creating documentation and development of processes/procedures
  • Evaluate application portfolios and develop modernization strategy.
  • Strong leadership and communications skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and coordination to ensure the successful creation and ongoing upkeep of technology roadmaps
  • Experience with the development of formal written reports to communicate architectural design recommendations to all levels of technical teams, management, and leadership positions
  • Self-motivated, forward thinking, accountable, and empathetic
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills to tailored to various audiences.
  • Proficient problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Capable to adjust to shifting priorities, demands and timelines

  • Ability to defuse tension among project team, should it arise
  • Experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, and Application Performance Management implementations
  • Tools: Jira, Confluence, o365 suite, DrawIO

Work Environment:

The role will primarily function within the professional IT and business office environments located in South Florida; some occasional business travel is required. The space is in compliance with safety, environment, health, and accessibility requirements. The work environments are maintained to reinforce collaboration, motivation, and innovation to help maintain a vibrant and distinctive culture and a diverse workforce. The current working model is Hybrid Split Week where Monday through Thursday are onsite and Fridays are designated for remote work.
