About the team:
Rover’s International Business Team is responsible for driving revenue and profits growth across 9 countries: Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe which includes Spain, Germany, France and Italy. During the course of 2025, Rover will enter 8 additional new countries in Europe which will also be managed by the International Business Team.
Rover is structured with global functional teams, meaning that teams like marketing, product, finance, etc have accountability for delivering results across all countries including international countries. The International Business Team is responsible for setting the strategy for int’l countries and then partners with all the relevant functional teams to drive execution and results specifically for international countries.
Who we are looking for:
- Rover is looking for a Director of International Scaling to join our growing International Business Team in Barcelona, Spain.
- This role will own and drive customer lifetime value (LTV) expansion and supply acquisition and management for all international countries, existing and future, and will report directly to the Senior Director of International, also based in Barcelona.
- As a people leader, you will manage 2 direct reports located in Barcelona and coordinate with cross-functional teams located across Spain, the UK, and the US - especially the tech, localization, lifecycle marketing, operations, and finance teams.
* This is a hybrid position that has the minimum expectation to work out of our Barcelona Office in the Poblenou neighborhood two days per week on Mondays and Thursdays. For this reason, candidates must be based in Barcelona or willing to relocate
The key outcomes owned by this role will be:
- Define and execute the international LTVs long term strategy, roadmap, and targets across key metrics like repeat bookings, average booking value, Rover fees, and costs levers
- Set and drive international supply quality and utilization strategy, roadmap, and targets
- Set and achieve targets for repeat bookings, average booking value, cancellation rates, Rover fees
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver the International LTV multi-period strategy & roadmap (OKRs) aligned with key cross-functional partner teams
- Deliver strategy to increase average booking value across international countries
- Own strategy to increase repeat frequency in international markets through identification, prioritization, and execution against opportunities
- Define and own international disintermediation/diversion strategy and roadmap
- Partner with central team to drive international lifecycle strategy & plan for both owners and sitters
- Identify and drive key opportunities for alternative monetization approaches in partnership with product team
- Drive operational efficiencies across customer support, localization, and other areas partnering with the Global and European Operations team
- Set and achieve targets for repeat bookings, ABVs, cancellation rates, and Rover fees partnering with FP&A team
- Lead international vendors strategy
- Define and own international supply acquisition and management strategy and roadmap
- Mentor, manage, and grow direct team and cross-functional teams responsible for international scaling
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 10+ years of working experience in general management, program management or consulting roles
- At least 5+ years in a people management or leadership roles
- Strong understanding of customer lifetime value (LTV) dynamics in online businesses
- Experience building and driving multi-period strategies and roadmaps for highly cross-functional business areas
- Strong project management skills with the ability to define and execute against clear timelines while driving forward stakeholders
- Experience working with software-related product, UX and analytics teams
- Clear and structure written and verbal communication style coupled with the ability to influence and partner with senior leaders and diverse teams to drive critical decisions
- Highly proactive, ability to flourish with minimal guidance,, and enjoys operating in uncertain and ambiguous business environment
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to work autonomously in a shifting and highly ambiguous environment
- Analytically savvy with enthusiasm for forecasting and measuring the impact of the initiatives you drive and the metrics relevant to your business areas
- Strong leadership skills and experience in giving actionable feedback and coaching, and welcoming of the same
- Comfortable working across Europe (Central Time) and US (Pacific Time) timezones
- Strong command of the English language (minimum C2 level). English is the official Rover language and it’s used every day with every stakeholder and communication
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Experience in online marketplaces
- Experience operating across main European countries especially Germany and France
