Rockstar North is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who has a strong understanding of Windows systems and an inclination to automate repetitive tasks and develop tooling.
This is a full-time, permanent and in-office position based out of Rockstar’s state-of-the-art game development studio in Edinburgh, Scotland.
WHAT WE DO
- The Rockstar Games Online Services Team is a passionate development group, focused on growing and maintaining the technology platform that powers Rockstar’s online titles and our ability to deliver world-class player experiences.
- We work closely with developers, DBAs, build engineers, and security teams.
- We build world-class infrastructure for our high traffic, high visibility web sites and services.
- We provide operational support for critical services that enable connected experiences found across our game franchises.
- We constantly review our processes, automate wherever possible, and develop our own toolchains.
RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design, build and maintain internal developer tooling or platforms.
- Support development teams in their day-to-day work, identifying and providing solutions to bottlenecks in the software delivery process.
- Work with development teams to help automate their software delivery process through CI/CD pipelines or automated tooling.
- Ensure the observability of tooling, CI/CD pipelines and services, both internal and external.
- Define and promote patterns and standards (golden paths) for software observability, monitoring and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding of GitHub and associated tooling such as GitHub actions and GitHub apps.
- Experience with IaC or GitOps practices (Terraform, Chef/Ansible, ArgoCD).
- Experience with software observability using tools such as Sentry, Splunk or Grafana.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various stake-holders across team boundaries.
- Ability to work independently or as part of cross-functional teams.
SKILLS
- Proficient in one or more programming languages, such as TypeScript, C#, PowerShell or Python.
- Proficient in the use of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
PLUSES
Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.
- Cloud or DevOps certifications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience, or desire to work within the online gaming space.
- Familiarity with on-premise or hybrid infrastructure.
