Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work in many broader domains. As a Manager, Software Engineering, you’ll pioneer innovative ideas around product strategy. You’ll also serve as an advisor to other managers, supporting plans to improve organizational design and structure.

As a Manager, Software Engineering on the SDK Social team, you’ll work closely with world class designers, technical product managers, and engineers to drive the direction of our cross game social experiences. You will guide the SDK Social team in Riot’s Player Platform group as they build central shared technologies that help power the social interactions in all of Riot’s games. You will help our players find new playmates and create a safe place for social interactions in our games. You will report to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering for Player Platform.

  • Manage a team of 8-12 software engineers ranging from associate-level to principal-level.
  • Support a team working collaboratively with product, delivery, technical, and quality leads.
  • Help us with design, code and release processes for the products and solutions produced on your team.
  • Mentor software engineers, building career paths with them to help meet their goals.
  • Design the team makeup so that it has the skills and staff needed for our goals.
  • Ensure the products we are building are serving our customers long-term goals.
  • Balance short-term and long-term needs to ensure we are building stable, operational, extensible services and SDKs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years as an Engineering Manager working on teams that ship business-facing software.
  • 6+ years professional experience as a software engineer.
  • Expertise with continuous development and deployments of large-scale systems.
  • Expertise in project management, prioritization frameworks and guiding investment strategies in people and systems.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Unreal/Unity
  • Experience shipping client applications and/or client SDKs
  • Experience with globally deployed platforms as well as distributed teams.
  • Experience defining and delivering technical solutions to technical users.
