Game designers at Riot design and improve the player experience. Your analytical skills, player insight, and creativity help craft in- and out-of-game experiences that engage and surprise players. You will collaborate with devs from all disciplines and work with every tool at hand to create and polish player-focused designs that'll delight millions around the world.
This role focuses on building the game’s champions, traits, and abilities for players to enjoy and master. TFT set design poses unique challenges: each piece touches every other, with endless combinations and ripple effects for players to puzzle through, represented in dramatic, exciting team fights every round.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with design leadership and the wider design team to improve the game experience across many releases.
- Develop the craft skills to serve as the design lead of a future TFT set.
- Build TFT’s gameplay, whether that’s the champions and traits that carry every new set; or to other gameplay elements that surprise and delight players, like Double Up and Tocker’s Trials.
- Mentor junior designers to level up their design skills.
Required Qualifications:

- 5+ years of professional game design experience or equivalent
- Deep familiarity with the auto-battler genre and/or League of Legends
- Empathy and understanding with respect to many different player audiences and need
- A great collaborative attitude, and the ability to give nuanced positive and critical feedback
- A track record of learning design tools, to enable prototyping and building gameplay content within Riot’s tech base
Desired Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of combat feel, polish, and satisfaction - especially when the player isn’t at the controls!
- Experience working in the Unreal engine
- Experience designing mobile games
- Practice giving detailed mentorship and feedback to other designers on their teams
- Previous experience as a design lead or equivalent craft leadership
