Job Summary

The Lead Technician III must be able to lead a large team of technicians through each phase of the project from the initial stage to completion. This position reports directly to the Supervisor and could be co-managed by the Project Manager and/or Branch Manager of that location. Interfacing with other departments within the company will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Core responsibilities for the position are as follows:

  • Maintain regular communications with key stakeholders including Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Supervisor and Project Coordinator for purposes of discussing matters relative to project schedules, changes in scope of work, material, and personnel resources to ensure smooth completion of project.
  • Perform and/or direct staff to perform necessary tasks to help expedite the completion of the job, which may include but is not limited to: Pickup and order materials, moving client contents, performing necessary repairs at the highest quality while adhering to code regulations and industry standards.
  • Lead a group of 8 or more technicians, providing supervision and direction based on defined job parameters.
  • Oversee and ensures maintenance of company assigned vehicles and restock supplies as necessary.
  • Completes and turn in crew sheets and job notes at the end of each day.
  • Serves as role model in following and enforcing company policy and safety procedures while performing services.
  • Assist in development of technicians through mentoring, coaching, equipping, and encouraging development of skills.
  • Assists in jobsite safety briefings, provides training within scope of knowledge.
  • May act as company Site Safety Representative, applies knowledge of industry standards, safety training and understanding of company policies in enforcing safety guidelines.
  • Reviews and ensures accuracy of completed timecards, ensuring timecards are submitted in a timely and accurate manner, ensure crew members do the same.
  • Turn in completed work orders, which may include, but is not limited to: measurements, moisture readings, and necessary detailed paperwork for Project Manager to complete billing.
  • Maintains trade skills through regular training, as provided by company.
  • Continues building knowledge of company services, operations, and standard practices to support individual professional growth.

Experience/Requirements

The position of this role requires the following:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in lead technician role in construction field, and/or restoration/mitigation field or experience gained through successfully meeting job requirements of Lead Tech II.
  • Valid Driver's License, with driving record in good standing (Class C)
  • Must be insurable
  • Thorough understanding of safety guidelines and applies safety knowledge/expertise to daily tasks
  • Successfully completed the Site Safety representative training.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of company SOP's and adheres to guidelines. Shares with crew through application of SOP's in daily activities.
  • Responsible for the development of technicians (crew) encouraging opportunities for growth.
  • Expertise in use of hand tools, power tools, and other miscellaneous equipment to complete the job.
  • Good grasp of English language (read, write, verbal)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Able to pass Respirator Physical and obtain respiratory fit exam.
  • Can interpret and apply complex plans/details/instructions (i.e. - Material Data Sheets) in daily activities, with ability to articulate and communicate same to crew.
  • Industry certifications preferred, with ability to pass medical exams if required for certification.

Safety Requirements:

  • Regulatory Requirements: Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required PPE may include gloves, masks, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear. All employees must wear PPE as required for their specific roles and job site conditions.
  • Physical Clearance: Successfully complete a pulmonary function test, including a respirator fit test, to ensure their ability to safely utilize the designated respirator selected for the role.
  • Physical Hazards: Potential exposure to physical hazards, including vibration from equipment, the risk of falls in the workspace, exposure to extreme temperatures, and high noise levels.
  • Chemical Hazards: Work may involve exposure to various chemicals, including solvents, adhesives, paints, and cleaning agents. Proper use, handling, and storage of these materials are essential to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Biological Hazards: Work may involve exposure to biological hazards, such as mold, bacteria, and other pathogens commonly found in restoration environments.
  • Safety Training: Complete all mandatory safety training sessions, including but not limited to hazard communication, emergency response, and safe equipment handling.
  • Reporting Safety Concerns: Ability to identify and immediately report any unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents or injuries to supervisors without fear of retaliation.
  • Emergency Procedures: Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures relevant to your specific job site, including evacuation routes, and emergency contacts.

Physical Requirements:

General Physical Abilities:

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100lbs. with assistance.
  • Physical Activities: Ability to perform tasks that require, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, climb, squat, crawl, lift above shoulder, reach, and twist.
  • Sitting and Standing: Prolonged sitting or standing required (in office, driving and/or at job sites). Regular alternating between sitting and standing
  • Repetitive Motions: Continuous repetitive motion and tasks involving L/R hand movement (computer/mouse), wrists, or arms (e.g., typing, data entry).
  • Machinery Operation: Capacity to operate machinery and tools as required by job tasks, which may involve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Visual Ability: requirement for clear vision (e.g., close work, computer use, eye hand coordination)

Working Conditions:

Office Environment:

  • Indoor office setting for corporate roles, including working with standard office equipment (computers, phones, printers). May involve regular meetings, (in person or zoom) and collaboration with team members.

Field Environment:

  • Outdoor fieldwork at restoration sites, which may include residential, commercial, or industrial properties. Duties may involve exposure to different weather conditions (sun, rain, snow, heat).

Hazardous Environments:

  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, or contaminants specific to restoration work, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and use of PPE.
  • Work after hours and weekends given our 24/7 business operations

Travel Requirements:

  • May include travel to and from job sites, requiring the use of company and/or personal vehicles. Possibility of attending out-of-town trainings, meetings, or conferences.
