We are looking for a Staff Android Engineer for our Mobile Platform team who would like to make a difference in the products they develop. What you'll do:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance and redefine the development experience, empowering our mobile team to excel.
  • Lead the design and evolution of our CI/CD pipelines, foundational codebase, and toolsets, driving efficiency and excellence.
  • Partner with teams across the organization to understand business needs and deliver scalable technical solutions that address complex challenges.
  • Advocate for quality by delivering scalable, robust, and reusable code that meets high standards.
  • Champion tools and practices that enhance productivity and elevate the Mobile Team's capabilities.
  • Mentor and coach engineers by fostering best practices, encouraging innovation, and promoting technical growth.

We balance creativity and innovation on a foundation of in-person collaboration. For most roles, our employees work three or more days in our offices, where they have the opportunity to collaborate in-person, adding richness to our culture and knitting us closer together.

What you'll bring:
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a track record of building products at scale.
  • 5+ years of experience developing native Android applications in team environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and the Android SDK, with hands-on experience in frameworks such as RxJava, Dagger, and MVVM.
  • Familiarity with Android architecture components like Jetpack, and tools such as CircleCI, Gradle, and Fastlane.
  • Knowledge or interest in functional programming concepts.
  • Expertise in creating and managing dependency management solutions and coding frameworks.
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring engineers, and managing technical projects.
  • A solid understanding of TDD/BDD principles, with hands-on experience applying them.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to discuss complex technical concepts with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A self-starter mindset, adept at managing projects, meeting deadlines, and setting clear stakeholder expectations.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience with modern tools like Jetpack Compose, Room, Espresso, OkHttp/Retrofit, and Maps SDK.
