Job Description:

SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner for a temporary position from December 2024 to September 2025 to cover a maternity leave. Based in our London office, this role involves close collaboration with a global team and with two other HRBPs located in the same office. The position reports to an HR Director based in San Mateo, US.

In this role, the HRBP will serve as a strategic partner to leaders, managers, and employees, focused on enhancing leadership capability, enabling excellence among our people, and fostering an innovative culture to drive business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include supporting the Operations & Tech client group-approximately 130 employees across Brazil, Europe, and APAC in functions such as Product, Product Management, Product Operations, Publishers, Analytics, Data Science, and Engineering.

Success in this role requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to build influential, trust-based relationships across the organization and within the broader HR function.

The HRBP will act as a trusted advisor, guiding people strategies and initiatives that align with and support our business objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop strategic partnerships with Business leaders to provide thought leadership regarding change management, organizational strategy and execution that's aligned with business strategies.
  • Design and execute strategic people initiatives, including employee engagement, leadership coaching and development, organizational design, team effectiveness, and more.
  • Provide best in class HR expertise to develop programs, processes and systems, and educate the business on HR service offerings and products.
  • Provide executive level coaching that is direct, precise, and actionable, ultimately enabling and developing leadership.
  • Manage and resolve escalated complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations in a consistent, empathetic, and legally sound manner when needed.
  • Showcase your compensation and total rewards skills by keenly analyzing compensation needs and partnering across Rakuten Centers of Excellence to create win/win solutions.
  • Support major organizational initiatives across the HR matrix as needed.
  • Works closely with leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Partner and leverage COEs and HR Shared Services to implement HR programs and drive efficiency
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge of employment law requirements to ensure Rakuten remains compliant.
  • Identify and action areas for improvement, standardization and other opportunities that establish best in class HR services and brand.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience with roles increasing in responsibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, or related field preferred.
  • Preferred specialties in the areas of employee relations, business partner, or organizational development.
  • Proactive collaboration within the HR team and demonstrated ability to impact and influence leaders.
  • Experience operating within and driving cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, resilient, highly collaborative
  • Analytically driven; fluent with data-driven analysis.
  • Knowledge of UK employment laws, Brazil, France, Germany or Australia is a plus.
