Summary:

The Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of Rakuten. This role will be specifically focused on Cartera and Rewards Canada, with the potential for opportunities among the other Rakuten entities. This position is responsible for providing strategic guidance and financial insights that will help in decision-making processes across the company. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a strong background in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.

This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner. As a primary business leader in the team, you will be presenting and communicating with senior and c-suite leaders across the organization. As the FP&A expert, you will develop and maintain the annual budget, develop and drive the forecasting cycle, identify growth drivers and opportunities, and develop a view of marketing and revenue opportunities across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Cartera FP&A in the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans. Including GMV, revenue, profit, and operating expenses down to the vendor level
  • Support Rakuten Rewards Canada FP&A needs by managing operating expenses and maintaining close partnership with the Canada cross-functional team and General Manager to guide business decisions
  • Identify and research variances to forecast, budget, and prior-year spend; proactively identify opportunities for improvement and optimization
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to understand business trends, identify and communicate risks and opportunities which may impact financial goals
  • Define Marketing Expense management with Rewards Canada cross-functional partners
  • Contribute to other Rakuten entities and their FP&A responsibilities, under the broader global FP&A team. Responsibilities which include expense management across Rewards US, ShopStyle, and other business units
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders to support decision-making
  • Proactively monitor and adjust forecast based on adjustments to vendor and partner contracts
  • Own routine (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual) financial reporting, forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario planning
  • Drive and maintain long range financial planning with executive team
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's degree and more than five years of experience in finance or accounting or a related area
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and experience with financial systems and tools (e.g., Excel, Oracle)
  • Experience developing budgeting, forecasting, spend tracking, financial reports and metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining a view of the big picture
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders

Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.

USD $99,306.00 - $171,612.00 annually
