Job Description:

Rakuten Advertising is a global platform and premier destination where brands go to discover customers and engage audiences through our best-in-class performance marketing solutions.
We need an experienced attorney for approximately 6 months to support our affiliate marketing business in APAC, which today primarily includes Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, and China.
We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of the culture, excellent crafting and negotiation skills, and good working knowledge of applicable data protection regulations.
Expectations of this Role:
- Support internal regional stakeholders on legal matters involving the APAC business.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements, including nondisclosure agreements, master services agreements, publisher agreements, terms and conditions, order forms, amendments, service level agreements, vendor agreements, and other similar legal documents.

- Review, draft and negotiate data processing agreements, ensuring adherence region-specific privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and objectives and address same within responses to RFPs, contracts, and deal negotiations.
- Manage case load, effectively and efficiently resolving priority legal matters identified by the business on a weekly basis.
- Deliver weekly progress reports to management, including noteworthy topics/issues with broad legal and business implications.
- Assist in the development and implementation of contract management policies, procedures, and tools, always striving to improve and automate.
- Support commercial growth and product roll-out in the region by creating, maintaining, and updating legal and product-specific templates; review go-to-market communications.
- Contribute to a region-specific library/repository of information and resources to be utilized internally and shared with cross-functional teams.
- Advise on relevant changes in law and/or best practice in market, including region-specific data protection laws and regulations.
About You:
- Law degree from a recognized and reputable institution.
- Licensure from and active membership in good standing with applicable bar or other
association(s) that regulate the legal profession.
- In-depth knowledge of region-specific contract law, as well as a strong working knowledge of
applicable data protection laws and regulations.
- 5 years of proven experience as a contract attorney, preferably in-house at a technology
company with a focus on commercial and corporate law.
o Experience negotiating contentious contractual clauses, including licensure,
representations/warranties, limitation of liability, indemnification, termination.
- Ability to 'hit the ground running' in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of matters and have a solution-focused, problemsolving approach.
- Ability to effectively prioritize a high-volume workload; independently manage quick
turnaround times in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working cross-functionally with legal, sales, business development, client services,
marketing, and product/engineering teams as necessary to finalize contract negotiations.
- Strong interpersonal skills; confidence to clearly, and succinctly communicate, advise, and
deliver timely reporting to legal and business stakeholders.
- Team player with a "can do", "get-it-done" attitude.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
