Senior Accountant

Job Summary The Senior Financial Accountant will own and eventually oversee a variety of responsibilities within the General Ledger, Financial Accounting & Reporting, and Accounts Payable areas of the Finance Department.This position will review pertinent information to be used by management in analyzing revenue and expenses. The position is designed to immerse the person into industry and company accounting and reporting, from which the right candidate will eventually advance. Qualified candidates must have demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, accounting procedures and controls. General ledger maintenance and some supervisory experience is a plus.

  • Responsible for executing and assisting in managing the following processes in compliance with GAAP and Company policy:
    • Preparation of general ledger journal entries and reconciliations
    • Review and approval of journal entries prepared by Financial Accounting staff
    • Internal and external financial reporting
  • Coordination of accounting matters with other departments, areas, and/or divisions
  • Make recommendations as to accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures
  • Responsible for challenging existing procedures for efficiency and introducing improved processes or changes as necessary
  • Prepare regulatory reporting documents
  • Prepare documentation for and work closely with internal and external auditors
  • Investigate and resolve audit findings and account discrepancies
  • Responsible for continuous review, documentation, and application of strong internal accounting controls and procedures performed by staff
  • Participation in accounting projects on an ad hoc basis

Required Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred

Required Education:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience demonstrating progressive responsibilities
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP
  • Committed team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • The ability to prioritize and excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to meet constant stream of deadlines
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and desire/aptitude for advancement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a must.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills, the ability to work independently & maintain confidentiality are also essential.
