What you will do:

The Vice President, Head of Software Engineering will oversee the application development efforts for numerous affiliates and divisions within the organization. This role involves providing strategic direction, managing a team of developers, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality applications. Additionally, the role will be responsible for introducing and implementing a new centralized application development platform using Microsoft Power Platform, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of extensive full stack development experience with Microsoft's cloud platform including App services, container services, DevOps etc. and extensive hands-on experience building applications using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Pages, Power Automate, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio. In this lead role, you will be responsible for defining and executing end to end application development strategy for PGIM including Azure full stack and Power Platform adoption, SDLC lifecycle management, and partnership between citizen and pro developers. Additionally, you will be responsible for translating business requirements into robust, efficient technical solutions

This role is based in our office in Newark, NJ. Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely and/ from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. This position is hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring weekly basis 2-3 days per week.

What you can expect:

  • Develop and execute the overall application development strategy in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide visionary leadership to drive innovation in application development across multiple affiliates and divisions.
  • Ensure that application development efforts align with business needs and deliver value to stakeholders.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of application developers, architects, and other technical professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.

Platform Implementation:

  • Design, develop, and implement solutions using Microsoft Power Platform tools, including Power BI, Power Pages, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
  • Create automated workflows to improve efficiency and streamline business processes.
  • Optimize existing processes and data flows to ensure they are efficient, non-redundant, and systematic.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and understand their challenges.
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions, ensuring robust and scalable implementations.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of developed solutions to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for implemented solutions, including troubleshooting issues and implementing enhancements.
  • Document solutions and workflows clearly to facilitate knowledge sharing and support organizational continuity.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for application development-related matters.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, affiliate groups of PGIM, etc providing regular updates on application governance, architecture and design.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance application development efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team is leveraging the best tools and practices.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the application development team.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that all applications are developed to the highest standards of quality, performance, and security.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes and practices.
  • Conduct regular code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for application development.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate identified risks.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 15 years of experience in application development, with 10 years in a leadership position.
  • Strong technical background with experience in Microsoft Power Platform and other relevant technologies.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing large-scale application development projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices is a plus.

Technical Stack Knowledge:

Azure full stack engineering (after platform implementation)

Strong experience with Azure .Net development

Direct experience with deploying applications to Azure App Service

Direct experience with building Jenkins or Azure DevOps pipelines

Experience with React for front-end development

Skilled in IAC tools such as Terraform, ARM, or AWS CDK

Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle

Hands on experience with Azure services including

The salary range for this role is from $190,000 to $225,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
