The current employee work arrangement for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

The Vice President & Actuary, Supplemental Health will primarily be responsible for leading the finance and actuarial team working with product, pricing and underwriting in developing new product and pricing initiatives to improve the growth and profitability within Prudential Group Insurance's Supplemental Health products, including Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity and Accident Insurance. Specific activities will include leading the development of pricing methods, support for product development, case level pricing and underwriting consultation, and engagement with Group and Corporate Finance on financial planning and analysis of emerging results.

The individual in this role will have to be a strong leader, collaborator and relationship builder as this role interacts with Group Insurance Finance and Actuarial leadership, Product leadership, Underwriting, Distribution, and enterprise functions.

What you can expect:

This position will report to the Vice President of Group Insurance Pricing & CFO for Disability, Supplemental Health and Medical Stop Loss.

  • This position will take the lead actuarial and finance role in Prudential Group Insurance's strategy to grow Voluntary products, working closely with Distribution, Underwriting, Product, and Operations partners to drive profitable growth in Supplemental Health.
  • Function as the lead expert in the design and development and execution of pricing strategies, including extensive collaboration with other functions in the business to ensure a disciplined implementation of strategies, training in the use of pricing tools, etc.
  • Lead and provide technical guidance in the development and/or enhancement of new products, including assumption development, understanding reserve and capital requirements, modeling, and pricing, etc.
  • Design and lead the development of data analytics and actionable insights as the business grows over time.
  • Lead and develop a team of actuarial and finance professionals supporting the Supplemental Health business.
  • Represent Supplemental Health and Group Insurance in enterprise and industry forums.
  • Opportunity to collaborate and expand into other products within Prudential Group Insurance including Life, Disability and Medical Stop-Loss.

What you'll need:

  • 7+ years of experience, including Voluntary Benefits and Supplemental Health product experience with product development, pricing, actuarial and financial projections.
  • Proven experience in team leadership, and leadership within a business environment.
  • Collaborative and inclusive team player.
  • Strong quantitative and analytics skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate pricing results, profitability metrics, risks to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Data driven mindset with the ability to make decisions informed by reliable data and insights.
  • Strong external focus with the ability to navigate internal teams and processes to deliver on objectives and goals.
  • Professional actuarial designation ASA, FSA, FIA or equivalent.

The salary range for this role is from $195,100.00 to $263,900.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
