The Team

You will be part of the Long-Term Disability (LTD) Claims team which is part of our Group Insurance Business. We have Long-Term Disability offices in Newark, NJ, Portland, ME, and Scottsdale, AZ.

The Role

The Senior Disability Claims Examiner is responsible for providing excellent customer service while managing an assigned block of around 50 complex Long-Term Disability claims. You will be expected to utilize judgment and assess risk as you work with various business partners to render claim decisions. As a claim manager you will partner with medical and vocational resources to evaluate disability and support return to work goals.

The current employee work arrangement for this position is fully virtual. While this position does not require your on-site presence on a regular basis, depending on business preferences, there may be occasions where you are required to be on-site at a Prudential office.

What you can expect:

  • Communicate via telephone, email, and text with claimants, employers, attorneys, and others.
  • Document claim information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Understand and apply policy plan provisions
  • Review medical records
  • Complete financial calculations
  • Coach peers and new members of the team

In addition, the role requires but is not limited to the following skills:

  • Focus on customer experience to deliver the best experience for our customers.
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate, diligent, and trustworthy service to our customers.
  • An energetic customer focus evidenced through maintaining customer relationships.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers including, but not limited to, claimants, employers, physicians, attorney etc., to gather the information to make the decision on the claim.
  • Provides technical direction to other claims personnel as needed.
  • Validates payment period, follow up and monitors payment accuracy and timeliness; follows plan to closure for other claim personnel as needed.

What you'll need:

  • 3+ years' experience in LTD claim management required
  • Ability to solve complex claim scenarios with minimal mentorship
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Claim/risk management skills and technical knowledge in contract interpretation and administration
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Successful written and communication skills proven in previous work experience
  • Specific experience with collaborative negotiations

What we offer you:

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $64,100.00 to $95,300.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
