Who We Look For:
In PGIM Fixed Income, our technology group is a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with exciting changes on the horizon under new senior leadership. We are looking for a well-rounded, senior Production Engineer to work with our Application Service Delivery, DevOps, and other internal engineering teams to improve the stability, scalability, and resiliency of the applications in our production environment. Our ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing the reliability, resiliency of complex investment management platforms and applications. What You Will Do:
- Ownership and accountability for the operation, monitoring, and integrity of the technology platform, including complex nightly data import processes from multiple external vendors.
- Manage a team of junior staff including staff schedules and staff performance.
- Accountable for the overall delivery of the Ireland Production Engineering ASD team.
- Triage and escalation contact for members of the broader technology team including being on-call for evenings and weekends on a rotation basis.
- Ownership and participation in the incident and problem management processes, being accountable for implementing engineering solutions for issues as required.
- Providing oversight for the stability of the production environment within the change management process and ensuring policies are governed.
- Design and develop solutions that help introduce operational enhancements to our technology organization.
- Navigate the broader technology organization, build relationships to manage the team's agenda with our critical technology partners.
- Interface with external vendors and their technical support/development organizations ensuring focus to resolution of issues and strategic enhancements.
- Proactively identify improvements opportunities and address them through independent thinking within a consensus driven team.
- Work in close partnership with other development teams to identify and address persistent patterns of issues.
What You Will Need:
- 10+ years of experience in financial services technology, ideally with a focus in Production Engineering, SRE or similar roles
- A hunger for continuous improvement, constantly looking for opportunities to improve upon the status quo with heavy emphasis on automation.
- A tenacious sense of ownership and able to collaborate effectively with other teams.
- Passionate about improving the overall stability, scalability, and performance of our products.
- Obsessed in providing the best customer experience to our business stakeholders.
- Skilled in writing technical design and procedure documents.
- Proficient in Database SQL (MS SQL Server and AWS/Azure Cloud DB solutions)
- Proficient in Unix/Linux scripting including writing complex commands.
- Proven experience in managing applications hosted in AWS, Azure or on-prem infrastructure.
- Experience having supported migration from on-prem infrastructure into the Cloud.
- Technical fluency to use your software coding skills to automate manual processes.
- Experience with Business intelligence tools (Tableau and Power-BI preferred)
- Experience with the use of Enterprise Scheduling/workflow software (AutoSys preferred)
- Fluency in configuring/using modern monitoring tools desired (e.g. Dynatrace, Splunk etc.)
- Direct experience with the Atlassian product suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience using service management tools (Jira Service Manager or ServiceNow preferred)
What We Would Love to See:
- Very strong research, analytical, investigation, troubleshooting and engineering skills.
- Experience working in a DevOps environment.
- Experience with any of following tools/technologies.
- Bitbucket, GitHub and Jenkins
- AWS, Azure, and Fabric technologies
- CloudWatch logs
- Self-motivated to operate independently and make necessary decisions within team.
- Strong team player, results oriented with a flexible approach.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent relationship building skills across multiple organizations.
- Ability to deal with and navigate difficult situations through strong teamwork and a focus on resolution.
