What You Will Do
The successful candidate will join our debt investment business, based in Sydney, Australia and will assist the investment team with underwriting and transaction execution as well as ongoing asset management of the loans.
Key Responsibilities
- Will work across all aspects of the debt process including, but not limited to
- Deal underwriting
- Deal structuring
- Deal origination and relationship management
- Deal execution
- Loan management
- Responsible for the production of detailed underwriting models to enable the assessment of potential debt investment opportunities, with responsibility extending to the generation of key underwriting assumptions
- Conducting detailed market research to analyse the market dynamics involved for each investment including supply and demand analysis.
- Assist with the preparation of Investment Committee memorandums through risk analysis and in-depth understanding of investment factors.
- Support the transaction due diligence and closing processes.
- Assist with the production of periodic reports and key investment papers, including investor presentations and investment committee memorandums.
- Assist in developing investment strategies and presentation material for capital raising initiatives.
- Assist with the ongoing asset management of each loan including maintaining investment models, evaluating leasing activity, capital expenditure, and annual valuations in line with Sponsors business plans
- Assist with various ad-hoc initiatives and projects taking place across the broader business
What You Will Bring
- At least 3 years of relevant experience and knowledge of the Australian real estate market
- Superior technical modelling skills, including property level cash flows as well as different debt structures within the model extending across investment and construction deals
- Strong quantitative skills and demonstrated analytical ability
- Background working in commercial real estate either in a debt or equity investment role
- Experience working on transaction execution, underwriting real estate investments, evaluating risk and developing risk mitigation strategies, dealing with internal risk, writing IC memoranda, reviewing legal documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English as well as strong presentation skills
- Proactive, enthusiastic and motivated
- Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving capabilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal parties across jurisdictions as well as market participants and investors
- Strong organizational skills are required with the ability to appropriately prioritize, multi-task, work both independently and collaboratively in a time sensitive environment where meeting established deadlines is critical
