What you can expect
We are seeking an individual to serve as a mutual fund tax specialist that will assist with all aspects of tax compliance and reporting. This person will coordinate workflow, assignments, and deadlines with both the tax and financial reporting teams. This individual will communicate with many internal and external partners, including Product, Legal, Compliance, custodian banks and external tax firms. In addition, the individual will be responsible for ongoing research for complex portfolio holdings and legislative changes.
Responsibilities
- Review mutual fund tax compliance work.
- Review of return of capital distributions, corporate actions, and REIT adjustments for GAAP and tax purpose.
- Review financial statement tax disclosures.
- Review of federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Review year-end shareholder reporting.
- Support internal partners related to tax considerations and impacts.
- Responsible for review and research of complex holdings, including but not limited to partnerships, MLPs, swaps, options, foreign currency, shorts, notional principal contracts, convertible debt and passive foreign investment companies.
- Oversight of custodian banks tax reclaim services.
- Oversight of foreign jurisdictions taxation and impacts to mutual funds.

What you will bring
- 3+ years of experience in mutual fund taxation
- CPA and/or Masters in Tax preferred
- Strong technical mutual fund tax skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication skills

- Experience specific to Chapter M
- Taxation knowledge across mutual funds, ETFs, and alternatives
- Work experience within a "big-4" firm

Salary Range Disclosure
The salary range for this role is from $90,000 to $110,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits.
